Farm Burger Opening in Dunwoody and Bringing Morelli's Too!

George Frangos is bringing Farm Burger to Dunwoody. The newest Farm Burger will open in Georgetown Shopping Center, already home to Goldberg's Bagel, Starbucks, a recently enlarged Kroger and assorted other restaurants and retailers. Georgetown Shopping Center is located on Chamblee-Dunwoody Road, just outside I-285.  The first Farm Burger opened in Decatur in 2010 and was followed a by a successful Buckhead opened last summer.

Farm Burger is opening adjacent to the UPS Store  in a space most recently home to Garcia's Mexican Restaurant.  The space is roughly 4,000 square-feet, though Farm Burger will occupy only about 2,400.  The balance of the space will be shared with Morelli's Gourmet Ice Cream!  Morelli's, an award winning gourmet ice cream shop with two locations off Moreland Avenue intown will join Farm Burger in bringing their eats to OTP dwellers.  The two will share the space and plan to maintain the same business hours.  This set up is similar to the Caribou Coffee / Einstein Bros Bagels at Toco Hills (a former Pollo Tropical) although they have a sliding separating door, something I'm told Farm Burger / Morelli's will not have.

The Dunwoody area could definitely use more local options and I can think of no two better local favorites than Morelli's and Farm Burger to join forces for this OTP installation.  Georgetown has in the past had multiple ice cream shops but Morelli's brings with it a local appeal that neither prior vendors had.  Dairy Queen closed its freestanding outparcel location years ago and has since been replaced with a newly constructed Guthrie's, a fried chicken eatery.  MaggieMoo's from Norcross-based Global Franchise Group had a location adjacent to Guthrie's but it now sits abandoned.

As far as burgers go, there really are no casual, or even fast casual offerings in the area.  Across the street from the shopping center is a Burger King and not far away, McDonald's took over a former Del Taco / Mrs. Winners and built a new location.  Farm Burger, with its grass-fed meats and house made sweet potato and FB fries are one of my favorite burger joints in town.  Unlike other restaurants that claim to feature a "chicken burger" but actually just throw a chicken breast on two pieces of bread, Farm Burger has a legit chicken burger.

Having run into Frangos with signage in hand at the Buckhead location earlier this week, he tells me the hope is to have the overall space completed for both he and Morelli's by Labor Day.  Frangos also told me he and his business partner have looked at a number of other southern cities but that this deal made the most sense.  It's doubtful that more than one or two more locations would be added in Atlanta, as the group intends to remain based here but branch out.

Where is your favorite burger in town?  Do you live in the area, if so, what other intown favorites would you like to see in your backyard?  Will Farm Burger's opening increase your burger eating?  Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Glad to see Farm Burger coming to Dunwoody. My gym is in the same shopping center. A great burger is just what I need after a work out.

You sure about that? Village Burger is 2.5 miles away and serves up some pretty tasty meat patties stuck between two pieces of bread.

Hi Amy,

Yes, you are right about that. I thought of them too in writing this post but they are 2.5 miles away as you said and while still in Dunwoody, in a completely different neighborhood.

Thanks for the comment and for reading the blog!

Excited about the Addition to the Neighborhood. CORO is doing a nice job with the renovations. This neighborhood is desperate for more offerings and Farm Burger will be a welcome addition. Now we just need a bar!

Not adjacent to Goldbergs - its on the Kroger side facing 285, not the arm that faces Chamblee Dunwoody. Anyways, Farmburger blows Village Burger away and to be really technical, their beef at Village is not as good or grass fed :)

Shoulda been you, Vinings, shoulda been you.

I am beyond ecstatic that Farm Burger is moving into my neighborhood. We have been patiently waiting for the Garcia's location to be taken over, however, I never thought we would be so lucky as to get a Farm Burger (and an ice cream spot)so close! Yay!

Still have yet to make it out to the Decatur spot, so glad to see one opening up closer.

And might have to give that Village Burger a try to.

@TheJohnP,

I know you love your Cozy Burger Town but for goodness sake, give Farm Burger a shot! ... and Grindhouse too while you're at it.

Thanks for reading and for the comments.

Notice I did not mention CBT. Thought about it though.

And I have been to Grindhouse as a matter of fact. Even had the Sublime Burger at Cypress Street, just haven't made it out to Farmburger yet.

Get Out Of Here! Farm Burger in Dunwoody? HOORAY! Wow, Dunwoody - that is so uber-progressive, I can't believe it. Welcome, Farm Burger! We love you AND what you stand for. Now if only Chamblee would do the same in Chamblee Plaza...

This is great news! Love Farm Burger, BUT I wish they would offer gluten-free french fries. They offer GF buns, but having to skip the fries is a deal-breaker. Yeah! Burger offers gluten-free fries. It's a bit of a drive, but it's better than dealing with the repercussions of a Celiac sufferer eating gluten.

I'm a Celiac sufferer as well but I don't expect every restaurant to customize all their menu items for me. Especially a burger place. I would definitely love it if they had gluten free fries so I could eat them, no doubt, but I appreciate Farm Burger for the GF buns. Welcome to Dunwoody!

I expect businesses to customize their menus to maximize their profit, which usually coincides with meeting market demands. If the additional cost of a dedicated gluten-free fryer is not worth the investment, then don't do it. Is there enough demand for gluten-free food? Some restaurants seem to think so, including another burger place in town. As a consumer, you don't get what you don't demand. Also, I don't get your "especially a burger place" statement. The only time I even consider eating fried potatoes is when I go to a burger joint.

Village burger spanks this place. Just did a side by side.

I like village burger and farm burger. As a village burger regular, I have eaten three times in a row at farm burger and have decided that village burgers are a little more backyard, grilled flavor for purists and i think their burgers are a little beyter. However, there is an interesting, different taste to farm burger that i appreciate too, bur i have to say ot needs more doctoring. Farm burger service is incredible, so friendly, fries are much better than village burger, and they have a more gourmet offering. I might head to VB right now and FB tomorrow
