Topshop / Topman Coming to Atlanta via Nordstrom

Seattle-based Nordstrom, fresh off the announcement that they will enter the New York market in 2018, has now announced they will open London-based Topshop / Topman stores in 14 of theirdepartment stores nationwide.  Not surprisingly, Buckhead's Phipps Plaza was one of the lucky 14 locations chosen to pilot the program.  The only other store in the south to be included in the program is in Dadeland Mall in Miami.

The deal to partner apparently came together over the course of an afternoon at the Nordstrom Cafe at Fashion Show Mall in Las Vegas.  Pete Nordstrom, President of Merchandising for Nordstrom, saw a way to broaden his stores' appeal, and Sir Philip Green of TOPSHOP saw a way to economically expand its U.S. presence, and a partnership was born.

New York-based Bloomindale's did a similar thing when it tested London-based AllSaints Spitalfields in its full line department stores in 2010, its Lenox Square store being one of these such stores.

I visited Topshop at its then new flagship store in New York's SoHo neighborhood back in 2010, and was overall not terribly impressed.  I will say that a shirt that read "Bread Zeppelin," I did find funny.  The prices are similar to that of that of Zara and H&M.

Topshop / Topman merchandise should start to arrive in the selected Nordstrom stores by mid September with additional pieces available at Nordstrom.com.

Excited about this, but I wonder if they'll be carrying the collaborations Topshop is famous for?

Some of their collections can be a hit or miss. The past season was a miss, mostly, but FW12 is looking very promising.
