Columbia, Maryland-based Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries closed its Sandy Springs location,for a second time. The restaurant opened in March 2010 and closed this past November. In March of this year, the restaurant reopened under new management but has now closed for a second, and likely final, time.
The chain was started as Boardwalk Fries in Maryland in the early 80s and has more recently been relaunched as Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries to reflect their expanded offerings. Honestly, I think their fries are some of the best I've ever had, while their burgers are some of the worst. Some may say it's difficult to have a "fry only" business, but given they were a fry only business more much of their existence, I say: stick to what you know.
The chain's Ansley Mall location remains open for now, but I seriously doubt it will stay open much longer.

I think that the Ansley Mall location is quite good. It's always busy, and I think it fills a well-needed niche. It helps that they have healthy options given their location next to a gym.
I don't frequent the Ansley location, but as the previous poster wrote, it does appear busy. Is there something you know that leads you to "seriously doubt it will stay open much longer" or is that just conjecture?
I was this close to stopping by there last night! But like you said, the bugers are not that great. Unfortunately the same goes for Smashburger and 5 Guys which are both 2 minutes away from there. Which of those 2 is next to go? By the way, since your in a Sandy Springs mode: What is going in next to IHOP? Seen some construction, but no signs.
Hello AJ,
I've been to the Ansley location a few times and never has it ever been busy. On two of my visits I was one of only 3 parties in the dining room. As I said, the burgers are awful despite what I think are some of the best fries around. Bantam & Biddy will soon open and Grindhouse is a better burger not far so I think, given these two better options, that Boardwalk will not make it much longer.
@Anon RE: Sandy Springs,
I tend to agree with you on Smashburger but do think FIVE GUYS does a decent burger. My favorites remain Grindhouse and Farm Burger.
With regard to you SS question. As far as I know, the construction you are seeing is work on what will serve as the new home of Rumi's Kitchen.
Thanks for reading and for the questions!
Looks like a smaller place. So how long will the current place go empty for---a year or more? To many empty spots up and down Roswell Rd.
Not surprising about Boardwalk. Their veggie burgers were decent but the service was piss-poor. Cashier must have taken 5-6 tries to input my order correctly, I mean how hard it is when I'm standing in front of you.
Haven't been to the Ansley location but with Grindhouse up the street from there, there's absolutely no reason to go to Boardwalk.
Rumi's Kitchen is moving next to IHOP.
