AtlantaFresh Expanding in Atlanta and Beyond

Norcross-based AtlantaFresh Artisan Creamery is continuing their expansion outside of metro Atlanta, and beyond.

The near three and a half year old company can already been found in countless retailers and restaurants from West Egg Cafe to Whole Foods but is expanding even more.  Last year the company entered four other Whole Foods markets in Tennessee, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina.  Soon, the little yogurt company from Atlanta will be available in Whole Foods' Midwest Region; 38 more stores in 9 states. Major markets include Chicago, St. Louis, Indianapolis, Minneapolis, Detroit, Ann Arbor, Milwaukee.

Personally, I love the fresh yogurt bar that they introduced at the Buckhead Whole Foods last year.  The yogurt bar, near the prepared foods section of the grocery store, features a rotating number of flavored and unflavored yogurts with an awesome topping bar,  available in small ($2.49) and large ($3.99).  Apparently the bar in Buckhead was so popular / successful that it is being added to Whole Foods on Ponce, in Sandy Springs and in Johns Creek, along with Harry's Farmers Markets in Alpharetta and Marietta.

The company introduced a Pumpkin Pie flavor this past fall that while coming to a seasonal end soon, was a tremendously popular flavor that will likely be brought back for years to come.  The Vanilla Honey flavor was discontinued, but new flavors Strawberry, Basil, Balsamic and Bananas Foster will soon join the flavor roster.  Ron Marks, "The Big Cheese" tells me the new flavors are currently available to taste at the company store in Norcross, but will be officially launched in mid March.

To celebrate the expansion, AtlantaFresh is on sale for the first time ever at Whole Foods.  Through January 29th, all 6 ounce yogurt is 2 for $3 (normally $2.49 each)

Might Atlanta one day get its own freestanding AtlantaFresh yogurt bar? What is your favorite flavor?  What flavor would you like to see get added?  Please share your thoughts below.

PS, my favorite west coast bread, Dave's Killer Bread, recently announced expansion plans that may soon bring them to the south.  Started in Portland, Dave's produces a variety of "breads not on drugs" including the uber popular Sin Dawg.  Dave's is also sold in Whole Foods and is basically the Atlanta Fresh of bread.

What local out of state product do you crave locally?  Drop me a line and share.

This is a great news ,AtlantaFresh has made a commitment to not only producing yogurt made with local ingredients, but to selling to local markets, as well.
