It's no bueno for Dos Amigos |
Dos Amigos Cantina on Spring Road in Smyrna has closed . The restaurant opened last January in a former Black-eyed Pea restaurant, and closed last week. The restaurant was part of the Great Food Group, which also included Paul's in Peachtree Hills and Social Vinings in Vinings. The group is owned by Chef Paul Albrecht (formerly of Buckhead Life and the Paul in Pano's & Paul's) The restaurant group closed their Vinings Fish Company this past September. The space recently reopened as Another Broken Egg Cafe. No word on what will replace Dos Amigos.
L'OCCITANE has closed their store on the first level of Lenox Sqaure, adjacent to Bloomingdale's. The Manosque, France-based skincare retailer still has area locations at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody and another at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. For those still seeking skincare products at Lenox Square, the mall is still home to Aveda, Kiehl's and LUSH.
Brookstone will soon leave their current second level location within Lenox Square and relocate to the space currently occupied by Skechers. The gizmo and gadget retailer known these days for iPad and iPhone accessories is strangely vacating what sources say is a goldmine location (next door to Apple) where the retailer apparently sells an insane number of Apple related accessories. While I don't profess to know the margins on each item sold, I've gotta think each item sold is rather profitable. To leave the prized location for a less trafficked portion of the mall leads me to believe their move is to allow Apple (already the largest store in Georgia) to again expand its square footage. On the bright side, the new Brookstone will sport the chain's new, updated interior, and will likely open late this summer.
Armani Exchange will soon double their size at Lenox Square. The men's & women's apparel chain jumped from the second floor of Phipps Plaza to the main level of Lenox Square in 2011, and will now expand their prime first level Lenox Square space to include an even larger variety of chic clothing.
Vera Bradley will open another Atlanta area store, this time at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. The purse, luggage and accessories company started with a single store in the market at Phipps Plaza and recently announced plans to add a second at Mall of Georgia in Buford. Locations at both Mall of Georgia and Perimeter Mall are slated to open late this spring.
VANS will soon open its fourth Atlanta area store, this one also at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody. The lifestyle brand owned by Greensboro, North Carolina based VF Corporation opened other Atlanta area stores in Atlanta last year including Mall of Georgia, Lenox Square and Town Center at Cobb. The brand is known for their eye catching skateboarding shoes and other skateboard and BMX bike related apparel.
Olde Towne Tavern & Grille has closed its location at Suwanee Town Center. According to the Olde Towne Tavern & Grille website, the Suwanee location (was) "INDEPENDENTLY OPERATED AND IS NOT ASSOCIATED IN ANY WAY WITH THE PARENT COMPANY DOING BUSINESS AS OLDE TOWNE TAVERN & GRILLE" This is a good thing, since there is signage reflecting a bankruptcy filing in the Suwanee restaurant's windows. Readers may recall, Olde Towne Tavern, later known as Tavern 360, closed its Buckhead location last year after less than a year in business. At some point, and perhaps all along, both the Suwanee and Buckhead location were owned by the same person.

Has Carter Barnes announced a specific closing date? I know they plan on closing their Phipps location soon, but do you know when?
Hi,
The Carter Barnes salon at Phipps Plaza will close after business this coming Friday, the 15th. The salon will not take reservations for the 16th-18th and will reopen in their new location on Paces Ferry Place next Tuesday, the 19th.
Thanks for reading the blog and for the questions.
Looks like renovations to Lenox are underway. A lot of the facade has been torn off over the past few days.
