The Cookie Studio Hoping to Bake Sweet Success in Buckhead

The Cookie Studio will soon leave their location in Decatur and move to Buckhead.

The Cookie Studio, currently located on East College Avenue near the Avondale MARTA station, will soon close and move to Pharr Road in Buckhead.  The Cookie Studio will open in the Pharr Road space most recently occupied by Fuoco di Napoli, a Antico Pizza-like pizzeria that closed this past October after less than a year in business.  Rumors have swirled about why the restaurant failed with some saying that litigation from Giovanni Di Palma of Antico Pizza regarding "intellectual property-trademark" forced the restaurant to close.

I inquired if sandwiches might be offered at the new Cookie Studio and was told that was one of the items they will be unable to carry.  The Cookie Studio shares the same landlord as its Pharr Road neighbor Sophie's Uptown, and as such, will be limited in what they can offer meal wise.

Sophie's Uptown is open Monday through Saturday and is most popular for lunch on weekends.  The Cookie Studio plans to cater to the needs of morning commuters with an assortment of pastries and coffee.  The space comes with a large outdoor patio in addition to a semi-private room on the inside that the owners plan to use for cookie decorating parties for kids.

The Cookie Studio is basically tripling their square footage in the move and will offer an expanded variety of cupcakes as well as cookies, pastries and coffee.  Plans call for the new location to open April 1 and for the Decatur location to close shortly before Buckhead opens.

Creative Loafing named The Cookie Studio Best Cookies in Atlanta last year while readers of the AJC ranked them third best in Atlanta (AJC themselves ranked them number 1) in 2010.

Atlanta does have plenty of cupcake shops, but cookie shops, especially locally owned ones, are a littler harder to find.  Ali's Cookies expanded their mini empire from just one location in East Cobb to a second in Dunwoody last year, but Buckhead is rather limited when it comes to gourmet cookies.  Cookie Creations of Atlanta does offer a variety of cookies, cookie cakes and other decorated cookies as does Great American Cookie Co. within Lenox Square, while Henri's offers some cookies too.  Other than those three, Buckhead residents are not nearly as covered cookie-wise as they are with cupcakes and froyo, where each have a have dozen or so options in Buckhead alone.

Where are your favorite cookies in Atlanta?  What is your favorite type of cookie?  Are you pleased to see a local cookie and coffee shop coming to Buckhead?  Please share your thoughts below.

Cupcakes, cookies, burgers, burritos, and fro-yo...gosh, Atlanta is a model of healthy living. That said, I love all of the above.

Metro Fresh, Arden's Garden, and the upcoming help balance it out. Atlanta has it all.

Great American Cookie Co in the mall has some really terrible cookies. Joy's Cafe has good cookies. Whole Foods are good early, but get stale if you wait too long.

Can't beat Great American Cookies at Lenox, not only for their cookies, but brownies also. My favorite is the Red Velvet Brownie, and any double doozie cookie!

Ali's Cookies is by far the best cookies I've ever had!
