Dunkin' Donuts to Demolish, Then Rebuild for a Fresh Start in Marietta

Dunkin' Donuts plans to start fresh on Cobb Parkway

Canton, Massachusetts-based Dunkin' Donuts plans to demolish and rebuild their freestanding location on Cobb Parkway in Marietta.  The shop, about a mile north of Cumberland Mall, is outdated and without a drive-thru.  The plan is to demolish the current structure and rebuild it with a drive-thru and more indoor and outdoor seating.

Dunkin' has been increasing its Georgia and metro Atlanta presence as of late adding a number of new locations.  Dunkin' opened in place of what was for many years a Burger King at Piedmont and Rock Springs Roads.  Dunkin' also opened in place of KFC on Howell Mill and is preparing to open in place of Church's Chicken on Ponce de Leon Avenue at Boulevard.

Carrollton, Buford and Newnan also got new Dunkin' Donut locations recently.

Do you prefer Krispy Kreme or Dunkin' Donuts?  Who has better coffee? Better donuts?  Where would you like to see a Dunkin' open next?  Please share your thoughts below.

isn't it time for a name change and rebranding. who actually dunks their donuts in their coffee anymore. their brand position probably keeps a lot of people away who really don't want to put their donut into their coffee. and isn't it time that we go back to the spelling doughnuts? aren't they made of dough? what exactly is do anyway?

They've got three new stores being built in south Forsyth County, all new construction. One of these is almost next door to the very popular Dutch Monkey Doughnuts. Go figure.

Whatever came of their plan to open up a shop in Little 5 Points?

Absolutely top idea, Anonymous. While we're at it, certain novels by George Orwell and films by Stanley Kubrick also need rebranding, as we're past 1984 and 2001. *eyeroll

@TheJohnP,

I've heard nothing on that location lately but last I heard it was still on. I hope to have more concrete info soon.

Thanks for the comments and readership.
