The Cheesecake Factory Wants a Slice of Suburban Shopping Mall

The Cheesecake Factory is coming to the Mall of Georgia

Calabasas, California-based The Cheesecake Factory will be opening a new restaurant at The Mall of Georgia in Buford.

The Mall of Georgia is the largest mall in the state of Georgia, and at nearly 1.8 million square feet of retail space, is one of the largest malls in the country.

The Cheesecake Factory will open in "The Village" near P.F. Chang's, and the upcoming Tin Lizzy's Cantina. More precisely, the restaurant will open in place of what was once F.A.O. Schwarz and which later became a Hummer dealership showroom and was later a home decor store,  but had most recently sat vacant.

The Cheesecake Factory has existing Atlanta area locations in Alpharetta at North Point Mall, Cobb at Cumberland Mall, Dunwoody at Perimeter Mall and in Buckhead, currently on Peachtree but relocating to Lenox Square.

The Cheesecake Factory locations in Lenox Square and The Mall of Georgia will be the first for the restaurant in Simon Property Group owned malls.  This fact leads some industry sources to speculate that The Cheesecake Factory was given a deal on the two leases.

As it stands now, the hope is that both locations will be open by early next year.

Despite a recent study that showed The Cheesecake Factory serves some of the most unhealthy and caloric food in restaurants, it will undoubtedly be hugely popular at the suburban mall.

Some people even say you can judge the state of the economy by the line at The Cheesecake Factory.
