Bits & Bites

Work progressing at the upcoming The Cheesecake Factory at Mall of Georgia
Bits & Bites, ITP & OTP of the ATL.

Buford Highway favorite Sweet Hut Bakery & Cafe is opening a second location, in midtown.  The new Sweet Hut will open on Peachtree at the Shops at Metropolis.

J.Crew has temporarily closed their store in Lenox Square.  The store is being updated and reconfigured and is slated to reopen October 15th.  The adjacent J. Crew Men's Shop, an addition to the mall, should open soon afterward.

QuikTrip should have their new Chamblee-Tucker location open within two weeks.  Their existing station across the street will close upon the new opening.

daVia Italian Market Dining opens Thursday at Perimeter Place in Dunwoody.  From the makers of La Tagliatella, daVia is a fast casual Italian eatery that some say is trying to be FIGO.  The restaurant replaces Doc Greens Salads & Grill.

Nordstrom Rack will open their fourth Atlanta area store this Thursday at Perimeter Expo, across from Perimeter Mall.  The roughly 36,000 square foot store opens below Marshalls in place of a relocated Best Buy.

Shucks Oyster & Wine Bar, the third TOWN Brookhaven concept from Here to Serve, is slated to open Thursday October 10th.   The restaurant replaces the short-lived The Cup and joins fellow Here to Serve eateries Noche and Smash.

The Cheesecake Factory has announced it plans to have its new Mall of Georgia location open in December.  The restaurant will open in "The Village" and replaces what was originally F.A.O. Schwarz.

According to an industry source, Sprinkles Cupcakes at Lenox Square will open on Black Friday.

South Florida-based It's Sugar will open its first Atlanta area store at Atlantic Station later this month. Most often found in tourist traps like outlets and Las Vegas, It's Sugar sells overpriced novelty candy in a colorful environment.

Burger King will soon being renovations of their locations in Norcross on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard and in Marietta on Cobb Parkway.  The fast food burger chain is trying to keep pace with the likes of industry leader McDonald's as well as Wendy's in renovating existing locations and fending off competition from fast casual burger joints like Five Guys and Smashburger.

Michael Kors and Sephora are both opening new locations in Cumberland Mall in Cobb County.  Michael Kors already has a number of locations in Atlanta including stores in Lenox Square, Phipps Plaza, Perimeter and North Point Malls.  Sephora operates potentially endangered shop in shops in a number of JCPenney stores around town, as well as namesake stores in Lenox Square, a recently relocated and expanded store in Perimeter Mall, Town Center, Mall of Georgia and North Point.

like the add of a J Crew mens shop. the mens areas in J Crew always seem to come off as an after thought.

Your missing a good story with Cumberland. In addition to the two tenants you just mentioned, they added this year Teavana and Charming Charlie. Before that, Francesca's and White House/Black Market. I really thought they were a goner a few years ago, but they've become like the "little mall that could." They slowly just keep adding better stores. If they could ever replace Sears with another fashion department store, I think they could really be competitive again.

I hear they are trying to pull Banana Republic out of Vinings Jubilee as well.

I noticed Burger King is renovating their Tucker Lawrenceville Hwy location also. I'm surprised Cumberland Mall is coming back also.
