Please find below some brief bits from the week.
La Mongerie Bakery and Bistro at 265 Ponce de Leon Avenue closed yesterday. The midtown eatery was opened in late 2011 by Brianna Jenkins, a local chef who was featured on The Next Food Network Star Season 6. Jenkins had also planned to open a second, larger location in the former Agnes & Muriel's on Monroe Drive, but after starting renovations, she abandoned those plans. If I had to guess, I'd say the cost of renovating that space (which is quite old and not up to code) was simply too much.

J. Crew has opened their Men's Shop at Lenox Square. This marks J. Crew's first Men's Shop in metro Atlanta. Crewcuts for kids was added to the main J.Crew store in place of men's apparel.
New Bojangles' restaurants are coming to Panola Road at Snapfinger Woods Drive in Lithonia and Victory Drive at Leslie Drive in Columbus. Bojangles' plans to open its Duluth location in mid December, followed by their Peachtree Corners location shortly after Christmas. The upcoming Tucker location on Lawrenceville Highway is not as far along, and likely won't open until late in the first quarter of next year.
Next month, Great Harvest Bread Co. will open a new location in Alpharetta on Windward Parkway, near Lowe's. The Alpharetta location will be owned by the same franchisees as the Johns Creek location on Peachtree Parkway. Great Harvest offers free samples of its delicious breads and spreads most all the time, and makes a mean loaf of of "Honey Whole Wheat." The Dillon, Montana-based bakery cafe also has area locations in Marietta, Rome and Savannah. There was a location at Briarcliff and LaVista Roads but it was a bakery only, and closed a few years ago: currently the space is Sushi Itto.
The Cheesecake Factory opened their new Mall of Georgia location yesterday. The restaurant opened in the outdoor portion of the mall known as "The Village" in a space that originally housed F.A.O. Schwarz. The Cheesecake Factory is also relocating their Buckhead restaurant from its current freestanding site on Peachtree to the front of Lenox Square. Work is scheduled to begin on the space after the first of the year with a planned spring opening.
1845-style bar and lounge Establishment held its grand opening last night in Buckhead. Located adjacent to Loco's Bar & Grill on Peachtree, Establishment occupies what had been event space for the eatery. The bar quietly opened last month but had not been promoting the fact that they were open. The space is small with plenty of atmosphere and authentic Buckhead charm. Noted Buckhead bartender Bob Ruede prepares craft cocktails using ice he chops from large blocks.
There had been industry and neighbor chatter that Costco Wholesale was opening in place of the shuttered B.J.'s Wholesale on Jimmy Carter Boulevard near Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. I reached out to a Costco source who indicated that there is "zero chance" of that happening given the store's proximity to the Duluth store.

Re: Costco - While I agree that it's unlikely, the reasoning doesn't necessarily make sense. While the location is about 8 miles from both Duluth Costco & Brookhaven Costco, the Brookhaven Costco is less than 6 miles from Perimeter Costco. Based on what I know of Costco, I wouldn't expect many more locations in the Atlanta area. We have a good number of them. Though I know many would want a North Dekalb Mall location - which would likely do very well...
Costco does have a huge advantage over many stores - they know exactly where their customers live. That makes it easy for them to determine where to put a new store.
Saw on Facebook today that Little's in Cabbagetown is closing. Sounds from the comments on their page like it's related to repairs needed to the building:

Ssam Burger opened at the corner of Defors and Collier.
Bits and Bites should be a weekly staple.
@Anon RE: Weekly,
Thanks for the comment. It's been working out roughly like that as of late and I hope to continue to post another B&B about every week or so.
Thanks for the readership, I appreciate it.
