Da Vinci's Donuts to rise in Sandy Springs
Da Vinci's Donuts plans to expand from their single Alpharetta location to a second store in Sandy Springs. Da Vinci's new location will be located at 5610 Glenridge Drive, within the Glenridge Springs mixed use project. A number of restaurants already exist within the center including Qdoba Mexican Grill, Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe, Blue Moon Pizza, Firehouse Subs and Sushi Nami.
Glenridge Springs is located behind the Haverty's building and has been open for a few years. The space Da Vinci's will occupy has been vacant for some time. Ownership aims to have the new location open by mid-February, but hopefully no later than the end of the month.
Da Vinci's features an assortment of donuts with various icings, toppings, and drizzles with which to "decorate" your donut. In addition, Da Vinci's offers an assortment of teas, coffees and other beverages.
Both Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme have been building new stores in metro Atlanta, but small independent shops have carved out devoted followings around Atlanta as well.
Independent shops such as Sarah Donuts in Norcross, Dutch Monkey Doughnuts in Cumming and Dough in the Box in Marietta, have successfully satisfied suburban tastebuds. Intown, Happy Donuts in East Atlanta, Sublime Doughnuts in Home Park and Revolution Doughnuts in Decatur have each cultivated a loyal clientele for their unique takes on the decadent treat. Which is your favorite?

Just a heads up, that's qdoba in the development, not Baja fresh.
Not taking anything away from Sarah's, Revolution, and Sublime Doughnuts, mainly because I enjoy all of them, But Dutch Monkey is the best, hands down.
Tried the location in Alpharetta and was SEVERELY unimpressed. Will not be visiting this new location. They can hardly be considered doughnuts, more like small, very dense ball of dough.
I agree about Da Vinci's Doughnuts. I would take all the ones I listed over them.
Their doughnuts are not good at all. They are cake doughnuts made from a mix, not the yummy yeast doughnuts of Dutch Monkey, Revolution or even Krispy Kreme for heaven's sake.
Tried them once with a Groupon and was terribly disappointed and never went back. I'm surprised they are still in business and even expanding.
I also love Revolution and I agree, if you love yeast donuts, this is not the place for you. We are a small lighter cake donut with fun flavors or you can create your own by picking your own icing and topping. I apologize that your experience was not what you expected. We have never offered a Groupon so I'm not sure if it was DaVinci's that you tried.

@Anon RE: Baja,
Right you are! My apologies for the mis-print, I was clearly confused.
Thanks for your quick catch and for your readership.
Maybe it wasn't a Groupon, but it was some special like a Half Off Depot or Living Social. I know it was Davinci because we live only a couple of miles away and there are no other doughnut shops around.
Actually, it was a Scout Mob that we used. Just checked my app and it shows it was used.
The method that was used to get us in the shop is not the point. My point was I didn't care for their cake doughnuts which I am pretty sure are made from a mix. I noticed the owner didn't dispute my comment about the mix.
Why are we looking for a dispute? A new mom/pop shop goes in regardless if it's donuts or not. Good for the city, the economy and for those looking for jobs. If one doesn't like what they sell, you have options. You don't have to be a customer but we should all be supportive of new business.
Personally I LOVE cake donuts over yeast, so I'm looking forward to my 1st visit to DaVinci Donuts!!
