Brookwood Hills to Get New "Haus"

New restaurant opening soon.

Entrepreneur and B.O.S.S (Built On Self Success) Tamara Young plans to open "HAUS" in the 1800 block of Peachtree Road in Brookwood Hills in the coming weeks.  HAUS Restaurant & Bar will open in place of Lusca, the seafood-centric restaurant from Angus Brown and Nhan Le that closed this past February. Lusca opened in April 2014, replacing Bluefin Restaurant & Lounge, a sushi restaurant which had occupied the space for six years before closing at the end of 2013.

Originally, plans called for Lusca to reopen as a private catering facility run by Matt Blackburn, but those plans seemingly failed to materialize.

It's unclear where the name "HAUS" comes from but the "top definition" for "Haus" on Urban Dictionary is "a term given to a person who is amazing in all aspects of life."

Although new exterior signage is up, a look through the windows reveals a dining room seemingly unchanged since Lusca's closure. The City of Atlanta did approve an Alcohol License for "Haus Restaurant & Bar" on April 18th.
A short video on Young's Instagram profile video indicated that "HAUS ATL" would open "May 2016" with a comment from Young indicating she was "shooting for the 2nd."

According to her facebook, Young was previously "Boss Lady/Owner" at Room Service Lounge on Piedmont Circle. Room Service has since closed and reopened as "Atlantis Restaurant & Lounge."

According to Young's Instagram account, she is also involved with HairCandyShop, a Miami-based hair extensions business,  Studio23, a club in Miami, LBowe Collection, a children's apparel business, and is also a travel agent.

Young's Instagram indicates she may also be an aspiring model.

Calls placed to a phone number associated with Ms. Young were not immediately returned.

Are you excited for the upcoming opening of "HAUS?" Do you think HAUS will be a good replacement to Lusca?  Do you think, as I do, that this establishment will become more a lounge / club than a restaurant?

Please share your thoughts below.

Still so disappointed that Lusca closed. We lost a gem there.

Haus is German - as in bier haus. Although Yebo's new name is Yebo Beach Haus so I guess it could be used more universally. I think its just a trendy word right now and doesn't give an indication of the style of restaurant. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

It looks like B.O.S.S. TY is more accomplished at starting businesses than she is sustaining them or keeping them going long enough to sell at a premium. We'll soon see how Haus does. Good luck to TY.

Tacky, tacky, tacky! All flashy with no heart. Will not last a year. May not even last 6 months.

Amazing at all aspects of life...except opening a restaurant on time.

People need to understand what business is. It is NOT "shooting for the 2nd" as a target opening date. It's doing what you say you are going to do. Underpromise and overdeliver. Simple concepts.

Being a "boss" is soooo trendy right now with the millennials and people who love reality TV, but you have to pay the cost to be the boss, and seeing that it is 2 weeks and 2 days since she was slated to open, her funds are obviously insufficient. Definitely not a "boss" move, but one reminiscent of a pauper.

Anyone know the future of the moulin rouge / intermezzo spot? Or Wendy's?

That location has been a loser ever since Portofino Italian restaurant was there in the early 90's. Parking is a problem. Unless it serves reaonsably priced "meat and 3" southern food (which the area lacks), this too shall fail.
That strip of stores has been a never-ending parade of failed businesses for years. Nothing is planned yet for the former Moulin space.

This is a nightclub not a restaurant. They hope to be open until 3am!

The space is up for consideration by the NPU in June. The new tenant had previously failed to provide full details about the operation to the NPU so a vote on the site had to be postponed. Information that was lacking included her expectations for closing - a stop by the site in the past weeks saw a lot of work and one individual saying that it was to be a nightclub. There is a lot of concern from members of the NPU representing Brookwood Hills, Ardmore and the surrounding area and the hope is to have a full accounting of what she plans for the June session.

Jim Cummings, who owns the strip, has been made aware of the concerns and further has heard from the tenants at Sherlock Wine who spent a great deal of money updating their site - they have weighed in against having a nightclub that would call for late hours. Restaurant would be fine but would have to deal with parking as well as closing hours like those of Saltyard, Watershed and the former M.Rouge.
