Sweet! The Dessert Place to "Pop-Up" in Virginia-Highland Next Week

The famous cream cheese brownies
The Dessert Place to make cameo appearance in Virginia-Highland

It's baaaaack. Kinda.  Marisa Meddin, the daughter and goddaughter, respectively, of original owners Sheryl Meddin and Bennett Frisch, plans to open a holiday pop-up of the beloved The Dessert Place on North Highland Avenue next week.  Meddin revived the once popular dessert shop of yesteryear earlier this summer as an online enterprise.  The Dessert Place, with its classic cream cheese brownies, will take up residence in the former Pie Shop space, a storefront I predicted last month would be an ideal location for her to test her products in a bricks & mortar format.

The pop-up will be open Tuesday November 22nd from 4PM until 7PM, and Wednesday November 23rd from noon until 3PM.

If you are unable to make it into the shop, orders can be placed online via TheDessertPlace.com.    All online orders placed by 11:59 PM on Sunday, November 20th will arrive at your destination by Thanksgiving Day. (No international shipping.)   Limited quantities are also available at Callie's Hot Little Biscuit in Virginia Highland and on a more sporadic basis during most weeks, via UberEATS and Postmates.

Other Dessert Place favorites like thumbprint cookies, a sugar-like cookie with chopped pecans and a thumbprint of raspberry jam, and “Puffins,” a cakey muffin dipped in butter and rolled in cinnamon sugar, are on Meddin's mind for the future and may be added to the offerings next year.

Are you excited for the return of The Dessert Place?  What is your all-time favorite item from The Dessert Place?  Where would you like to see The Dessert Place pop-up next?

Please share your thoughts below.

Ah, this brings back fond memories of the ATL I once knew. Can we please have a Capo's popup too? :)

I'm curious, though. I used to work at the long-shuttered SBUX 8204 (E Paces Ferry), and a woman named Meg who was supposedly the owner of The Dessert Place came in faithfully every day for coffee. This was after they'd closed that retail location but still had their offices and facilities there. How was she involved? One of the baristas used to joke about how much sugar she would take for her coffee. "Don't you guys have some sugar over there?" (aka in your kitchen) :)

Carl - Meg was a manager at The Dessert Place for many years, and took an ownership role for a short period of time when Sheryl and Bennett stepped down during the last year that The Dessert Place was in business. Meg was great :)
