Reese Witherspoon's Draper James to Open in Buckhead

According to building permits recently filed with the City of Atlanta, Draper James, a southern-inspired women's boutique owned by actress Reese Witherspoon, plans to open a new shop at Buckhead's Shops Around Lenox.  The store, which according to the permits will be 2,150 square feet, will open in suite 214, a space currently occupied by fab'rik, an Atlanta based boutique franchise.

The permits indicate that nearly $400,000 will be spent for interior and exterior renovations to the space.

Although I have thus far been unable to confirm when fab'rik will be closing/moving, this likely had something to do with their need to relocate.

Draper James, which honors Witherspoon's grandparents Dorothea Draper and William James Witherspoon, features a curated selection of women's clothing, handbags, accessories and home accents.

There are currently three Draper James boutiques.  I visited the company's flagship boutique in Nashville's trendy 12 South neighborhood in early 2016.  The 3,000 square foot store, which opened October 2015, was the company's first, and follows the launch of the brand in May of the same year.   The store, designed to resemble a southern home, is an ode to Witherspoon's childhood: born in New Orleans, raised in Tennessee.
Subsequent Draper James stores opened this past September in Dallas's Highland Park Village and in Lexington, Kentucky's new mixed-use project, The Summit at Fritz Farm, developed by Birmingham's Bayer Properties.  A photo of the Lexington store's interior on the company's website resembles the interior of defunct retailer C.Wonder, which was started by Tory Burch's ex-husband Chris Burch, and which previously had a store at Buckhead's Lenox Square.

It seems that there is good reason for the similar look to the store's interior.  Former C. Wonder president Andrea Hyde was hired by Reese Witherspoon in early 2014 to be CEO of what was her as-yet-unnamed lifestyle brand.

In June, ToNeTo Atlanta reported that SoulCycle, South Moon Under and Flower Child, a sibling concept of True Food Kitchen, are all expected to open new stores at Shops Around Lenox in the coming months.  ToNeTo Atlanta confirmed this week that Flower Child will be located in suite 207, a portion of the former American Apparel, and will occupy about 3,900 square feet and feature a nearly 500 square foot patio.

Sources say that Draper James at Shops Around Lenox is expected to open "later this fall."

Have you ever been to Draper James?  Are you excited for the new options coming to Shops Around Lenox?  If you're a true southern belle, what is one clothing staple you find essential in your home and or wardrobe.
