Bits & Bites

City Farmers Market is opening a new store in place of a former Kroger on Highway 78 in Snellville.  The new farmers market replaces the Kroger at Mountain View Village shopping center which closed last May after 30 years in business.  The locally owned grocer currently operates two locations, both on Buford Highway, one in Brookhaven and the other Chamblee. City Farmers Market is also opening in place of a former Walmart Neighborhood Market on Powder Springs Street in Marietta. A company spokesperson indicated to us that both locations are expected to open in March.

Sage Woodfire Tavern plans to open its new Buckhead outpost on Peachtree Road this weekend, potentially as soon as dinner on Friday, February 23.    The restaurant, which occupies the  former Morton's The Steakhouse, has been under renovation for over a year after first being announced in October of 2016.  The company operates three other locations in Dunwoody, Alpharetta and Windy Hill.  An East Cobb location that opened November 2016 closed by May 2017.

Chronic Tacos will celebrate the opening of their first Atlanta area location this coming Saturday, February 24 in Alpharetta. Chronic Tacos will open in place of the short-lived Tom + Chee eatery in Stone Walk, off North Point Drive, near North Point Mall.  Another Chronic Tacos is opening in Parkview on Peachtree in Chamblee with plans for a third somewhere in Midtown.

Bury the Hatchet Axe Throwing has opened its  fourth overall location.  The new shop opened on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs beside Kudzu & Company.

QuikTrip plans to open a new location at 695 Veterans Memorial Parkway in Mableton.  The new convenience store and gas station will replace an assemblage of  three rundown looking parcels beside an existing Krystal.

ONE. Midtown Kitchen announced yesterday that they will be closing Sunday, March 4 after sixteen years in business.  The restaurant, part of Atlanta based Concentrics, is located on Dutch Valley Road, close to Piedmont Park.  The closure will allow the group to "focus on new and exciting concepts in Atlanta and across the country." Sources say that both the ONE building (559 Dutch Valley) as well as Concentrics nearby office (566 Dutch Valley) were owned by Concentrics founder Bob Amick and were sold to a developer who plans to redevelop both, potentially as part of a larger assemblage.   In Atlanta, Concentrics continues to operate  Parish, Two Urban Licks, TAP, Allora, Room at Twelve Centennial Park and Molly B's at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.  The firm has also consulted on over a dozen other concepts locally and around the country.  Some of the group's most notable restaurants in Atlanta that closed previously include  Piebar (2008) and Trois (2009).

Daniel Reed's Public Kitchen & Bar, the new restaurant at Phipps Plaza we previously announced would open February 26, is now targeting a March 5 opening.

Peachtree Pint opened this past Friday in the Fashion Cafe (food court) at Lenox Square.  The new bar from entrepreneur Farshad Arshid replaced sandwich shop Which Wich, which closed in the mall last February.  Peachtree Pint's current offerings include 40 different beers, a few wines, a few non-alcoholic bottled beverages and a curated packaged snack selection.  Alcohol purchased at Peachtree Pint must be consumed in the Fashion Cafe but ownership is hopeful that mall owner Simon may revisit their open carry request for consumption in the mall at a later date.
