Bits & Bites

A new restaurant called BoneYard Kitchen & Tap is coming to Etris Road in Roswell.  Ownership describes its concept as "a family friendly high end sports bar with high quality food and great drink options."   The restaurant, which is opening in place of what was most recently Blue Agave Mexican Bar & Grill, plans to open in late April.  A menu is not yet available, but updates to the restaurant, a confirmed opening and menu will be shared with followers of the restaurant's social handles on Facebook and Instagram at @boneyardkitchen.  

The AJC reported Tuesday that chefs Shaun Doty and Lance Gummere will later this month or early next month open King Barbecue in place of their Bantam + Biddy restaurant at Avalon in Alpharetta.  The move follows the conversion of Bantam + Biddy at Lenox Square into ATL Taco this past January, and the conversion of Bantam + Biddy Midtown to The Federal last year.  Carey Wise, a longtime Atlanta chef and veteran of the kitchens at Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q and Grand Champion BBQ, will serve as managing partner and pit master of the new restaurant.    

A new Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen is planned for 130 McClung Road in Athens

Steel City Pops will be hosting a Spring Kick-Off party at their shop in Decatur next Saturday March 24.  In celebration of the new flavors (and hopefully warmer weather), the shop will have live music and free pops from 7pm-11pm. The complimentary event is open to all.  

Sarah Donuts plans to open their first ITP location at North Decatur Plaza near Decatur, Saturday April 7.  The new shop, which ToNeTo Atlanta was first to report this past November, replaces Little Caesars Pizza in the Mattress Firm anchored center at the corner of Clairmont and North Decatur Roads.  To celebrate the Decatur Sarah Donuts grand opening, the company is offering one dozen donuts for $1 to the first 200 customers at the Decatur location on April 7. The offer officially starts at 11AM and ends at 2PM.  In addition, the first ten customers in line will receive a $25 gift certificate to Sarah Donuts, valid only at the Decatur location. 

Atlanta-based Tropical Smoothie Cafe plans to open a new location in Sandy Plains Centre in East Cobb later this year.  The 1,400 square foot smoothie-centric eatery will open in a space beside Orangetheory Fitness on the Sandy Plains Road side of the project.  The Kroger-anchored center is located at the corner of Sandy Plains Road at Shallowford Road.  In addition to the East Cobb location, Tropical Smoothie has yet another Atlanta area location coming soon to Morningside by Windsor (formerly Modera Morningside) apartments at 1845 Piedmont Avenue in Piedmont Heights.  

Costco plans to open its new Woodstock store on Ridgewalk Parkway near The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta Friday August 10 according to multiple sources close to the retailer.  A long delayed Decatur area store planned for the site of the former Macy's at North DeKalb Mall is reportedly still moving forward and on track for its previously announced 2020 opening.
