Opa! Vas Kouzina Opening in Historic Downtown Roswell

A new restaurant called Vas Kouzina is coming soon to historic downtown Roswell.  The restaurant, located at 942 Alpharetta Street, replaces Tutto Kitchen & Bar, which closed this past March after about three years in business.  Vas Kouzina, which translates to Vas Kitchen, is being opened by serial restaurateur Vasilios "Billy" Liakakos.  Liakakos claims to have had "had a hand in launching more than 18 restaurants in metro Atlanta," including Peachtree Diner, Sage Woodfire Tavern and Spice Brick Oven Kitchen.
"Founded by Restaurateur Vasilios Liakakos whose passion has once again brought him back to his roots with this next venture and a desire to showcase true Greek cooking in a way it has never been done before. Having been in the dining industry in Georgia since 1995 he was inspired to bring a modern translation of authentic Greek fare to the Roswell dining scene while transporting you to a favorite Greek village.  Infused with traditional flavors and techniques of classic Greek cuisine dishes are prepared with fresh ingredients creating a style that is pure, light, and healthy. His expectations are to immerse you in a true Greek experience that goes beyond the amazing flavors of the food."

Vas Kouzina, described as a "casual dining restaurant," will feature "True Greek Cooking" and is actively hiring.  A posting on Craigslist reads in part: "Looking for experienced and motivated professionals that enjoy working while serving as part of a collaborative team. Authentic menu with a modern flair in a newly designed interior space with an exciting and high energy atmosphere where we want our staff to have fun while maintaining professionalism."

Liakakos opened Diner Bakery Company on Cobb Parkway in Kennesaw in 2016 and The North Point Diner on Mansell Road in Alpharetta in 2008.

Billy's brother, James D. Liakakos, owns Infinite Dining Group, operators of the Sage Woodfire Tavern restaurant chain with locations in Alpharetta, Dunwoody, Marietta and his newest location on Peachtree Road in Buckhead.  A fifth location, Sage Social Kitchen, was located in East Cobb, but closed last year after less than six months in business.  A new Jason's Deli location is expected to open in the former Sage space later this fall.  Billy was reportedly previously involved in Infinite Dining Group but no longer is.

Loyal Tavern from the owners of Loyal Q plans to open today on Canton Street, around the corner from the new Greek eatery.

Vas Kouzina is expected to open later this summer.
