Chick-fil-A plans to close their restaurant at Colony Square in Midtown Saturday, June 23, with plans to reopen next year. The restaurant, located in the street level portion of the mixed-use development, originally opened in 1981 and was one of the earliest Chick-fil-A restaurants in the now 2,000+ unit chain.

Sources tell ToNeTo Atlanta that Colony Square Chick-fil-A operator William Bowling does plan to participate in the company's First 100 promotion when his restaurant reopens. Given its "city" location, it's unclear yet what version of the First 100 the Colony Square opening will feature, but it will no doubt get plenty of attention.
As ToNeTo Atlanta has mentioned previously, in recent years, Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A has invested heavily in rebuilding a number of high-profile local restaurants including those on North Druid Hills in Atlanta, Cobb Parkway and Windy Hill Road (Cumberland), Newnan, Sandy Springs, Smyrna, East Cobb and most recently, the Rome Dwarf House, slated to close at 10 PM tonight and reopen in November as "Truett's Chick-fil-A."
During the time that the restaurant is closed, at least one other nearby Chick-fil-A will supply a limited menu to would-be patrons of the Colony Square restaurant via an on-site kiosk. The restaurant is expected to reopen on six to eight months but its opening is dependent upon the moving timeline of North American Properties and their overhaul of the development that was originally completed in phases between 1969 and 1975.
The new Chick-fil-A is expected to be about the same size and in about the same location as the current restaurant. Representatives from Chick-fil-A were not immediately available to provide clarification as to the reopening timeline or any other details regarding the reopening.
Starbucks, Chick-fil-A's neighbor in Colony Square, will also close and reopen next year, but they have yet to announce a planned timeline.
Austin, Texas-based Oz Rey will manage Colony Square's upcoming food hall "Main & Main," which promises "20 local, independent chef-driven food stalls and two bars offering a variety of regional and global fare."

It's been 6-8 months already and there appears to be little to no movement on the renovations of Chick-fil-A at Colony Square. When will midtown get its CFA back? Not to mention, when will midtown get its new Colony Square food hall? There is complete radio silence on any progress being made at Colony Square...what's going on?
