Bits & Bites

Fendi plans to open their new, larger boutique at Lenox Square next Thursday August 16.  The store, which measures 2,735 square feet, replaces the brand's existing store across from Starbucks in the main portion of the mall.  ToNeTo Atlanta reported in July that French cosmetics line L'Occitane plans to open in a portion of the current Fendi store.

Stevi B's Pizza Buffet has closed its Acworth location on North Cobb Parkway.  The Acworth closure follows closures of other Stevi B's locations in Tucker, Kennesaw, Marietta, Augusta, Warner Robins and Newnan, among others.

Braves Development Co. confirmed earlier this week that they are partnering with Encore Hospitality LLC to build a 140 room Aloft Hotel at The Battery Atlanta.   The hotel will come to a site along Cobb Parkway that's near the existing DoubleTree Suites by Hilton, a property already owned by Encore.  The Aloft Hotel will be the second hotel at The Battery.  The first, the 264 room Omni Hotel at The Battery Atlanta, opened in January.  Construction on the Aloft should start this fall, with the goal of opening it in late 2020.  Aloft is a contemporary hotel brand, originally developed by Starwood, but now, like all Starwood brands, under the Marriott International umbrella.  Georgia’s first Aloft opened downtown in 2014 near Centennial Olympic Park in a converted Day's Inn.  Most recently, an Aloft opened on North Point Parkway in Alpharetta and in downtown Savannah.

Bad Daddy's Burger Bar plans to open their third Atlanta area location late next month in Roswell Market Place at the corner of Mansell Road and Alpharetta Highway in Roswell.  The 3,582 square foot restaurant is opening next to Another Broken Egg Cafe and joins existing Atlanta area locations in Chamblee and Smyrna.  A fourth locations is slated to open in the new Whole Foods 365-anchored North Decatur Square shopping center near Decatur this coming November.

The Brass Tap has closed its location at Glenwood Place on Glenwood Avenue in Glenwood Park.  The 3,100 square foot restaurant opened last April and closed within the past few days according to local sources.  The Tampa-based chain's first location in Atlanta, at Park Place across from Perimeter Mall, opened in early 2016, and remains open for now. The Brass Tap is a concept similar to Taco Mac, but with far less brand recognition.

Target recently began renovations of their approximately 163,000 square foot, two-level store at Lenox Marketplace in Buckhead.  ToNeTo Atlanta reported in April that the store, which first opened in 1999, is expected to receive a "complete renovation," that will include new fitting rooms, a new Starbucks cafe and new signage, among other upgrades.  The store is also expected to added Drive Up, the retailer's new offering that, like Kroger's ClickList, allows patrons to purchase their items via an app, and drive up to the parking lot and have the items delivered to them by an employee.    The Subway restaurant located at the corner of 17th and Peachtree Streets in Midtown has closed.

Starbucks earlier this week opened their newest location at Three Alliance Center in Buckhead.  In case you were trying to keep track, the coffee company already has a location in Phipps Plaza, two in Lenox Square and another on Piedmont Road outside the Disco Kroger, among others nearby.

Korean barbecue eatery Iron Age recently opened their third location in metro Atlanta.  The new 8,100 square foot restaurant opened in The Prado on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs in space previously occupied by Kobe Steaks.  The chain has existing Atlanta area locations in Duluth and Kennesaw, and as ToNeTo Atlanta reported in June, has plans for a fourth location in Cumming

Hey Eli, I just noticed that Lidl is building a new freestanding store (2651 Powder Springs Rd SW, Marietta, GA 30064) in place of the old Texaco. Surprised how big that store is. Looks like twice the size of my Aldi. Do you know when it will open?
