Revelator Eyes Expansion with Shops Planned in Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza

Revelator Coffee Company will soon open a pair of new locations in Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza in Buckhead offering a variety of coffees, teas and food. The coffee roaster and cafĂ© will be located in an 1,800 square foot space in Lenox Square and a 1,724 square foot space in Phipps Plaza.

In Lenox Square, the new Revelator will open on the second floor across from Williams-Sonoma adjacent to Gymboree.  The space is not far from where Barnie's Coffee & Tea Company operated near what was then Macy's and is now Bloomingdale's.  The small space, which has not been occupied by the coffee shop in about 20 years, is today home to Crafted Westside, a local boutique.

In Phipps Plaza, Revelator will open in a portion of what was once Armani Exchange, on the second floor near Arhaus.  Documents obtained by ToNeTo Atlanta indicate that the shop's Phipps Plaza location will be joined by Queen of Cream, a local scratch-made ice cream shop.

If Queen of Cream did open in Phipps Plaza, it would mark the return of ice cream to the mall following the previous closures of both Gorin's and Cold Stone Creamery, each of which operated years ago within the mall's former food court on the third floor.

Representatives from both Simon Property Group, owners of Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza, and Queen of Cream declined comment on the notion that the ice cream shop was opening with Revelator.  Attempts to contact Revelator were unsuccessful.

Although plans obtained for Lenox Square don't indicate a Queen of Cream joining Revelator in the mall, it's likely that given the similarly sized spaces, the ice cream shop will join the coffee shop in both malls.

Queen of Cream, which got its start in 2014 as a mobile ice cream cart, already serves Revelator coffees so there is already synergy between the two brands.  In late August 2015, the company opened its first ice cream parlor and coffee shop on Highland Avenue near the Beltline in Old Fourth Ward.  While details of the pair's relationship are still unclear, it would seem potentially likely that the coupling is similar to that of Morelli's Ice Cream and Farm Burger and their joint Dunwoody location.
Mega chain Starbucks, of course, already operates a pair of locations on the first floor of Lenox Square and another on the first floor of Phipps Plaza, but given the size of both malls and regular lines at Starbucks, it's likely that all can thrive.

Birmingham, Alabama-based Revelator, which last year purchased Atlanta-based Octane, currently has eight locations in the metro area under both brands, making Atlanta their largest market.  Revelator, which also purchased Boston-based Wired Puppy, plans to soon re-brand both concepts as Revelator shops.

In addition to their two upcoming Buckhead shops, Revelator is also opening a new location at the recently renovated 101 Marietta building in downtown Atlanta.

Revelator's existing Buckhead area shops include an Octane location at Atlanta Tech Village and The Mourning Dove, the company's coffee shop & cafe at The Shops Buckhead Atlanta, which opened this past December in place of Corso Coffee.   The company also operates "shop in shop" locations in Whole Foods Market stores in Chamblee and Kennesaw.  The company's other Atlanta area locations include shops in Grant Park, on the Westside and at the Woodruff Arts Center in Midtown.

Revelator's shop at Cottonwood Westside, at the corner of 14th Street and Howell Mill Road, closed to the public this past June to become a corporate "training lab."

Revelator plans to debut in Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza this November.

Are you excited for the addition of Revelator to Lenox Square and Phipps Plaza?  What is your favorite coffee shop in metro Atlanta?  Have you ever been to Queen of Cream?

That would be great to have another coffee shop at Lenox and Phipps. Ice cream would be great too! Never tried Queen of Cream. I go to Phipps more than Lenox. I typically just go to Starbucks for coffee since there are so many locations.

The more food & desert options at Phipps the better. I hated that River Street Sweets closed as that was my go to spot for candy when I'm watching a movie at the AMC.

Hello Eli, FYI the racetrac gas station opened yesterday 8/14 in East Cobb. I was excited until I walked inside ... Very disappointing. Looks like nothing special. They missed out on making it something special. QT across the street has a better layout - inside and outside. Easy in easy out. QT food also looks better. The racetrac is the opposite. Feels squeezed in. Tight. Pizza looks dry. Welcome to the neighborhood - SORTA! Hope they at least start a gas war!
