[ENCORE] Dolce&Gabbana Returning to Phipps Plaza Later This Fall

Italian fashion brand Dolce&Gabbana will later this year open one of its boutiques at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead.  The roughly 3,900 square foot boutique will mark the return of a Dolce&Gabbana stand-alone store in Atlanta and is planned to open in December.

Permits have yet to be filed so it's unclear how much will be spent to build out the space.

Joining luxury fashion retailers Valentino, Gucci, Jeffrey, and Saint Laurent, among others, the store will feature women’s and men’s ready-to-wear collections and be located next to the recently announced Tom Ford store.  Both Tom Ford and Dolce&Gabbana share space previously occupied by Giorgio Armani, which closed this past December.

Dolce & Gabbana's return to Phipps Plaza comes more than twenty years after it closed in a space not far from where they will now open.  The previous Dolce&Gabbana at Phipps Plaza, which closed around 1997, was a franchise location, according to those familiar with the mall's history.  The same franchisee controlled what was then a franchised Versace in addition to the Max Mara at Lenox Square.

Unlike many luxury fashion houses, Dolce&Gabbana remains independent and is not controlled by Kering or LVMH, two of the largest multi-brand conglomerates.

Velda Turan, Simon’s Senior Vice President of Luxury Leasing, said of the planned opening, “We are very excited that Phipps Plaza will have the first stand-alone Dolce&Gabbana boutique in Atlanta. The arrival of this preeminent brand solidifies Phipps as the place for luxury in Atlanta.”

Nationally, the Dolce&Gabbana at Phipps Plaza is the second full-line and sixth overall store the company will operate in a Simon owned property.  Dolce&Gabbana currently operates a full-line store at The Galleria in Houston as well as outlet stores at Desert Hills Premium Outlets (Cabazon, CA), Las Vegas North Premium Outlets (Las Vegas, NV), Sawgrass Mills (Sunrise, FL) and Woodbury Common Premium Outlets (Central Valley, NY).

Are you excited for the return of Dolce&Gabbana to Phipps Plaza?  What is your favorite designer label?  What other retailers would you like to see open at Phipps Plaza?

Eh. Own several of their RTW dresses, but Stefano Gabbana is a racist bigot - especially on the well documented November 2018 debacle with Chinese consumers. Definitely will not be supporting this boutique opening.
