[UPDATE] Tin Can Now Closed in TOWN Brookhaven

Tin Can Oyster Bar closed as of Sunday according to signage at the TOWN Brookhaven restaurant.  The eatery, which opened in 2016 in place of Shucks Oyster & Wine Bar, was part of Teela Restaurant Group.  The group also included Filo's at Chastain Square in north Buckhead as well as Teela Taqueria and Tin Can Fish House & Oyster Bar in Sandy Springs, all of which have now closed.  Tin Can Brookhaven was located in a nearly 1,300 square foot space.

According to the Tin Can Facebook page, the restaurant completed a "relaunch" this past May, which included a "new look and menu."

No message regarding the closure was posted to the restaurant's Facebook page, but a sign on the restaurant's front door reads: "unfortunately we have a problem in kitchen & we are closing"

Tin Can is the latest in a staggering list of restaurant and retail closures in the TOWN Brookhaven development.  Prior to Tin Can and Shucks, the space that both restaurants occupied was a cupcake shop called The Cup.

This past May, Amore Cucina closed at TOWN Brookhaven, and like Tin Can, was already the third concept to occupy its space.

Why do you think so many restaurants [and retailers] struggle to survive at TOWN Brookhaven?  What is your favorite Brookhaven area restaurant? What would you like to see open in place of Tin Can in TOWN Brookhaven?

Please share your thoughts below

Not surprising considering Tin Can Oyster was only open in the evenings. Problem with Town Brookhaven is the lack of parking to support the restaurants & businesses. There were a few good restaurants that went away because of it.

I think one of the problems with Town Brookhaven has been the type of restaurants it has attracted. Quick serve restaurants fail, as it is not easy to park and grab something quickly. The one exception is Newks, but being close to the Publix parking lot helps. Some of the more expensive restaurants fail, as the strip center environment does not set up well. Perhaps if they had valet parking, but finding parking and walking to fine dining, there are too many other options in Atlanta. The restaurants that can find a middle ground seem to be doing fine. A place that is not overly expensive, with an environment that invites you to spend some time (and money). These restaurants also seem to have a decent amount of alcohol sales. Lucky's, There, Red Pepper, Olde Blind Dog, and Hob Nob all seem to fit this description.

TOWN Brookhaven = bad developer, no imagination in design and total failure. What will fold next?

Doesn't help that the folks living near town brookhaven overwhelmingly will drive there. Peachtree is horribly bike/ped unfriendly, but there are a LOT of people living within easy bike ride distance if the developer / city actually designed for something other than car-centric life.

Burger King & Trader Joe's would be great!

plenty of parking in the garage under the Publix.
Drinking establishments do fine at Town.

too many obese people who prefer not to walk across a parking lot may also be an issue.

Ugh another lack of parking comment. Really? In the case of this restaurant it plain and simple was it just was not an appealing option. The seating area looked cold. A wine bar & oyster theme also seems odd but perhaps if the room was more like a lounge instead of a Captain D's it could have worked. Then again per the article all of the company's restaurant s have closed.

There was a Burger King there before. It was torn down to build Town Brookhaven.

aaaaaaaaalllllllll about the employee and food quality. Folks understanding the correlation these days, more and more and voting with their patronage, of lack thereof. Parking doesn't matter....people will uber to great places with great value.

These brand new developments are pricing the local restaurants out of business because the rent is outrageous. Only the large chains can afford to pay. Their all going to be revolving doors.

Finally some smart comments about TOWN. I have never gone there and said, welp, no parking, goodbye. There is plenty of parking.

Parking isn't the issue, it's the quality of the food. Amore was terrible and so was Tin Can. These establishments could survive based on residents in TB alone
