Wing Factory announced today via their Facebook page that their Dunwoody location has closed. The restaurant, at 5500 Chamblee Dunwoody Road, was within the Shops of Dunwoody shopping center. The announcement indicated that the Dunwoody location opened in 2014.
"Our Dunwoody store will be closing as of July 1st so we can focus on our other metro Atlanta locations. To all our Dunwoody neighbors, thanks for the support over the last five years, and we hope to see you in Chamblee, Chastain and Smyrna soon!"
The locally owned chain, which got its start in 1997, remains open on Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee, on Roswell Road in North Buckhead and on Cumberland Boulevard in Smyrna.
There is no word yet as to what may replace the 2,945 square foot former wing joint, but there has been a fair amount of interest in the center over the past several months.
Longtime neighborhood favorite Wright's Gourmet closed this past February after 35 years in business. Popular Sandy Springs eatery Breadwinner Cafe & Bakery announced plans in April to open in the former Wright's space with "late summer" reportedly still their targeted opening.
Porter BBQ & Brewery opened in the center this past March after months of renovations. The restaurant is the sibling of Porter Pizza & Brewery on Powers Ferry Road in Sandy Springs.
Are you surprised that Wing Factory closed in Dunwoody? What would you like to see open in place of Wing Factory in Dunwoody? Where is your favorite place for wings in metro Atlanta?

I'm not entirely surprised because the Chamblee location is so close to Dunwoody. We'd been making the slightly longer trip to the Chamblee location until my wife & I only discovered the Dunwoody location by accident less than a year ago. We switched to it as it was marginally closer to us, and we wished to support it. Our visits were clearly not enough business to keep them going.
We also liked Allison's, the restaurant that preceded it in that location. It is a tough spot; and for our part, we don't go out too often as I enjoy cooking.
We will miss it, order to go from there more than other places. We like the team trivia on Thursday nights.
Would not be surprised if the Chamblee location closed as well. My last visit in February was a disaster. Sat at the bar, had a few beers and then ordered some food. Half hour later bartender asks if I wanted anything else (like am I ready to close my tab). I reminded her about my order, told her to forget it, threw a few bills on the counter and walked out. Yelp reviews in the past year describe similar experiences.
I believe this old strip shopping center is slated for redevelopment - Eli would know better than anyone.
Dunwoody needs a good casual Cajun/seafood restaurant. There are a couple good ones on Canton Street, but it would be nice to have one in Dunwoody. I miss CB South in this location... anyone else remember frequenting that restaurant?

Loved CB south. Music and good food. Bring it back.
The Chamblee location has the most rude and inconsiderate staff of any restaurant. Clearly ownership is absentee because they have no idea what goes on in that place. It is like a zoo without a zookeeper. I also heard the center is slated for redevelopment and I am very interested to hear more details.
