[EXCLUSIVE] Culver's to Open New Restaurant in Acworth in 2020

Culver's, the Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin-based quick-serve burger restaurant famous for its "ButterBurgers," cheese curds and concretes, has plans to open at least one more location in the coming months, as it continues to expand across the state.  The new restaurant, planned for Exit 277 off I-75 in Acworth, would open along Highway 92 adjacent to a relatively new BP/Clipper fuel center & convenience store with a Dunkin', and down the road from Cabela's.  The 4,365 square foot restaurant would be constructed on a roughly 1.7 acre parcel.

The Acworth location will be the eighteenth in Georgia for the growing chain with the seventeenth expected to open soon on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Sugar Hill.  The burger chain, with an almost cult-like following, entered the Georgia market in 2016 with a location in Dawsonville, just north of the North Georgia Premium Outlets.

Today, Culver's operates Georgia locations in Dawsonville, Cumming, Grovetown, Lawrenceville, Braselton,  Newnan, Kennesaw, Buford, Suwanee, Gainesville, Commerce, Savannah, McDonough, Pooler, Canton and Jasper.  There are still no plans for a location ITP but here's to hoping!

Culver's, along with Wichita, Kansas-based Freddy's Frozen Custard & Steakburgers, have both expanded in Georgia and elsewhere while established competitors like Steak 'n Shake struggle to compete and stay relevant.

Atlanta-based private equity firm Roark Capital Group in October 2017 purchased a "minority interest" in Culver's for an undisclosed sum.  For the uninitiated, Culver's is most well known for their frozen custard and signature "ButterBurgers." Culver's menu also includes a variety of sides such as Wisconsin cheese curds, onion rings and coleslaw, as well as salads and soups.  The popular burger eatery, which was founded in 1984, today operates more than 700 locations in twenty-five states.

Are you excited for the addition of more Culver's to metro Atlanta?  If given the choice of Culver's, Freddy's or Steak & Shake, which would you choose?  Where would you like to see Culver's open next?

I haven't tried Culver's or Freddy's yet but wish one of them would come in a little bit closer, even it they don't make it all the way ITP (maybe Peachtree Corners?)

Good God. They refuse to actually come ITP huh. Same with Freddy's.

It is very very difficult to find good help at fast food stores inside the perimeter. It would be my last stop if I were building up a new entry into the metro market.

I wish they would set up shop in East Cobb instead of the 5 fat guys.

It's not just that they won't open ITP, they don't currently have any locations within 20 miles of the perimeter. I like their food but I'm only really going to drive near one a few of times a year and both times I've eaten at one I had to take a 15-20 minute detour from an already long drive (to get fast food). It would be nice if they opened anywhere near the city because until then it isn't going to be any more than a once a year type of thing for me.

Agree with Anon August 8, 2019 at 8:54 AM - plus the price of RE makes prohibitive. Many factors at play as to why ITP is not desirable.
