[OPENING ALERT] Ponko Chicken to Soft Open Thursday in Chastain Park

The latest PONKO Chicken location is set to "soft open" Thursday in Chastain Park.  The new PONKO, located in the Publix-anchored Chastain Square shopping center along Roswell Road, replaced Poke Nooke, which closed at the end of August after about nineteen months in business.  The restaurant, located in a 1,200 square foot corner space behind Swoozies, also includes a good-sized patio.
Former Poke Nooke owners Alex & Linda Lam own the new PONKO franchise.

Fast casual eatery PONKO promotes its chicken as "small batch" and "antibiotic free," but it does cost more than typical fast food.  That said, the chicken has proven quite popular with consecutive wins in 2017 and 2018 for "Best Selling Taste" at Taste of Atlanta.

PONKO Chicken, with two locations open and others planned, describes itself as an "Ameri-Asian" restaurant, where "eats meets west."  The restaurant is most well known for their chicken tenders, but also caters to vegans and vegetarians by also providing tofu tenders and vegan patties as well as vegan and vegetarian sides.

The new Chastain Park location joins existing PONKO locations on Chamblee-Tucker Road in Chamblee and on West Peachtree Street in Midtown.

In July, the company announced another new location is planned for Marietta Square Market, just off the square in Marietta.  The Marietta Square Market location is currently on track to open by the end of November.

A release announcing the Marietta location said "PONKO Franchise Corporation currently has agreements to open over 20 stores in various locations throughout the Atlanta Metropolitan Area."  In September, Mercedes-Benz Stadium announced that PONKO Chicken was added to the Harrah’s Cherokee Clubs for the 2019 season.

One of the other planned locations is slated for The Maxwell, a new development on Main Street in Alpharetta, where PONKO plans to open next fall.

Are you excited for the opening of PONKO in Chastain Park?  Where else would you like to see PONKO open?  What is your  absolute favorite chicken chain?

Great concept and well executed. This is definitely Chick-fil-a for foodies. I'm very excited for the brand.

Amazing to see a buzz about unhealthy fried chicken fingers featuring unhealthy spices. Doubtful that many vegans go there for the tofu, since they use the same fryer used for the chicken.
The original location is unique, the one in midtown thinks its a music venue and bar as well as a fast food fried chicken venue. Strange branding and identity at that location.
