[UPDATE] Buc-ee's Coming to Warner Robins, Calhoun

Buc-ee's, home of the world's cleanest bathrooms, confirmed Tuesday that its first location in Georgia will be in Warner Robins.  The Texas based company will break ground on their new location November 18 with a planned opening in early 2021.  The new Buc-ee's will be located on a roughly 20 acre site at the southeast corner of Interstate 75 and Russell Parkway in Peach County.
The 53,000-square-foot travel center will have 116 fueling positions and thousands of snack and food options. [A typical QuikTrip or RaceTrac is about 5,500 square feet with about 20 fueling positions.] The family-friendly travel center, which is not available to tractor trailers,  is open around the clock and claims to be home to the cleanest restrooms, best food, and cheapest gas available to travelers.

ToNeTo Atlanta first reported on Buc-ees' planned "invasion" in Georgia this past April.  Shortly thereafter we got word that the company had secured a site in Warner Robins along Russell Parkway for their first location.  Today's announcement confirms that site.

The new location will feature assorted offerings Buc-ee's is known for including Texas barbeque, homemade fudge, Beaver nuggets, plenty of jerky options, and assorted fresh pastries, among other options.
Rendering of the Buc-ee's planned for Warner Robins
Buc-ee's reportedly picked Warner Robins for its next location based off their desire to support military families in the region, as well as the town's location on the route between Atlanta and Florida.

The new Buc-ee's in Warner Robins will provide about 200 permanent jobs, and plans to host a variety of job fairs throughout the spring and summer.

In addition to the Warner Robins location, another Buc-ee's is planned for Calhoun where the Calhoun City Council voted Monday evening to approve a zoning change request and a sign variance request for the convenience store operator.  Buc-ee's plans to build a location similar in size to Macon outpost at 250 Johnson Lake Road, a roughly 22 acre property just off Interstate 75 in Gordon County.
Buc-ee's in Katy, Texas
One other area Buc-ee's is likely to be looking in Georgia is in Locust Grove near the Tanger Outlets, given their preference for being near outlets, and since there are still large parcels available.  Other potential areas could include places like  Villa Rica (en route to Birmingham) and Lavonia (en route to Charlotte).  Sources say Buc-ee's is looking to open at least six locations in Georgia in the coming years.

Buc-ee's, home to the world's largest convenience store, started in 1982 and currently has 37 stores in Texas, with their 38th opening soon. Earlier this year the company began their multi-state expansion in Alabama, with a location in Robertdale.  A second Alabama location, in Leeds, broke ground this past June and is expected to open in Fall 2020.   A third Alabama Buc-ee's is reportedly being eyed for Auburn.

Plans for the convenience store operator to expand into Florida were first revealed in early 2018, with the first slated to open in 2019, but several delays have led the company to push their planned Sunshine state debut to 2021.  Buc-ee's stores are slated to open in St. Johns County, Daytona Beach, and Fort Myers, Florida.

Have you ever been to a Buc-ee's?  Are you excited for the planned openings in Warner Robins and Calhoun?  Where would you like to see Buc-ee's open in the greater metro Atlanta area?

My work schedule has had my in Texas many times and yes, I have stopped at Buc-ee for fuel and food.

Always very clean restrooms and clean stores.

Please note, they cater to vehicles and not trucks.

Food prices were very good.

Welcome to Georgia and I will have to update my GPS.

Unless you can just run on straight air we will always use fossil fuels unless you have a car that can run from the sun even then if the sun doesn't shine you have to use fossil fuel.
