The second locations of two hugely popular Atlanta area restaurants are still happening, but are both delayed. Aviva by Kameel, a popular Mediterranean eatery in the Peachtree Center food court aka "The Hub," announced plans early this year to open a satellite location in CODA, a new project between West Peachtree and Spring Streets in Midtown. The restaurant, to be run by Kameel's son Nas, was to have opened this fall. According to Nas, however, the restaurant is now delayed until "early 2020."

The owners of The Local Expedition, a fusion European and Asian inspired fast casual eatery in Alpharetta, announced plans in June to open a second location at Hanover Perimeter, a mid-rise luxury apartment community at the corner of Hammond Drive and Peachtree Dunwoody Road in Sandy Springs. At the time of the announcement, the restaurant was to open this fall. Now, however, a representative for the restaurant tells ToNeTo Atlanta that the hope is to be open in Sandy Springs in January.
Danny & Diana Kim opened The Local Expedition [known then as The Local Wood Fire Grill] along Windward Parkway in Alpharetta in early 2017. The restaurant quickly attracted a following and currently has a perfect five star rating on Yelp.com with over 700 reviews.
Kameel Srouji opened Aviva by Kameel, named for his sister Aviva, in late 2012. The restaurant and its Peachtree Center neighbor Chick-fil-A are easily the two most popular restaurants in the project. Aviva often has more than a dozen people in line for lunch. It is one of the top rated restaurants in the state on Yelp, where it too currently has a perfect five star rating with more than 1,400 reviews.
We at ToNeTo Atlanta have patronized both restaurants, are huge fans of their food and hospitality and are so pleased to see them both slowly expanding to bring their food to even more people.
Are you excited for the expansions of both Aviva by Kameel and The Local Expedition? Have you been to one or both restaurants? What singe unit Atlanta area restaurant would you most like to see open a second location?

yes, we know that Aviva is the top rated restaurant in the US. Thousands of fake reviews can't be wrong.
Dear Anonymous 1 of 1,
Have you eaten Kameel's food? Have you experienced his hospitality? Top-rated is not saying it is a Michelin starred restaurant. Kameel's food is delicious and he does a fabulous job of welcoming customers, giving them samples while they wait in line and making certain folks enjoy his food. He is one of the most gracious humans on this earth. We can all learn a lot from him.
"We can all learn a lot from him."
Well said.
During DragonCon this year, when the line for Aviva was out the door and snaking down toward the Caribou Coffee, Kameel could not have been nicer or more gracious. He greeted each person in line as if we were his friends and gave out generous samples of their amazing lentil soup. I look forward to trying out their new location next year.
