[CLOSURE ALERT] Roswell Loses "The Meats" as Arby's Shutters

Arby's has closed its freestanding restaurant on West Crossville Road in Roswell.  The roughly 3,200 square foot restaurant, located in an outparcel of the Trader Joe's anchored Roswell Crossing shopping center at 665 West Crossville Road, originally opened in 1999.  Local sources indicate the closure came without warning in the last week.

One ToNeTo Atlanta reader recalled meeting players from the Atlanta Thrashers [Atlanta's most recent failed NHL franchise] at the restaurant's opening in lamenting the closure of what had become a family favorite.  ToNeTo Atlanta contacted the Arby's public relations department regarding the closure, but received no response.  According to a local real estate source who specializes in restaurants, the Roswell Arby's had been "under-performing" for several years, with talk of its closure having been in discussions for "a while."

Arby's, now part of Inspire Brands, is based in Sandy Springs and operates more than 3,400 locations worldwide.  Metro Atlanta, however, is littered with former Arby's restaurants, both freestanding and in mall food courts.  Riding a wave of renewed interest in the brand and marketing that is resonating with its core demographic, the chain is once again growing locally with several new or upcoming restaurants in the metro area.

In 2018, Arby's opened a new restaurant on State Bridge Road in Johns Creek in a converted former Pollo Tropical, and another along Scenic Highway in Snellville.  This past March, a new Arby's opened on Peachtree Parkway in Cumming, where in 2017, local restaurant Norman's Landing had closed.

After months of debate and negotiations, a new Arby's planned for Lawrenceville Highway in Tucker was approved by the Tucker City Council this past October.  The restaurant should open in 2020.

In addition to new restaurants, the company is also investing in its existing units with new interiors, signage and other improvements at such locations as those on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta and more recently, on Roswell and Wieuca Roads in north Buckhead.

Are you disappointed to learn of Arby's closure in Roswell?  What would you like to see open in place of Arby's in Roswell?  What is your favorite quick-serve restaurant?

They lost me when they killed the Junior Roast Beef. They wanted me to eat those slider on that nasty gooey potato bread.

Ah, no. Have not been back. Won't be going unless you tell me the juniors are back!
