[OPENING ALERT] Delayed Duck Donuts to Finally Debut at Toco Hills

The newest Atlanta area Duck Donuts will finally celebrate its highly anticipated opening at Toco Hills Promenade.  The doughnut and coffee shop, the fourth in metro Atlanta, is opening in a 1,800 square foot space adjacent to Taziki's Mediterranean Cafe. ToNeTo Atlanta first reported April 6, 2017 that the new Toco Hills location was at that time expected to open later that fall.
After a series of delays, the shop will open tomorrow, Saturday, December 21 at 8AM.  To celebrate, Andre Walters, CEO of The A. Shawn Group, franchisee of both the Toco Hills and Buckhead locations, will give all who attend the opening a free cinnamon doughnut.  Additionally, liking Toco Hills Duck Donuts on Facebook and commenting using hashtag #tonetoatl we provide readers the opportunity to win additional prizes.

In Toco Hills, Duck Donuts will compete with an established Dunkin' [Donuts] franchise but for those unfamiliar, what sets the new shop apart is that they make fresh donuts for every customer, every time.  There are fewer donut options - just classic cake donuts - but near endless customization choices of icing and toppings.

Founder Russ DiGilio opened the first Duck Donuts  locations in 2007 in the beach resort towns of Duck and Kitty Hawk, North Carolina. The first franchise opened in Williamsburg, Virginia, in 2013.  Today based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, there are now 85 franchise locations open and more than 145 signed contracts for additional units across 26 states and 3 countries.

In metro Atlanta, there are currently three locations open in Alpharetta (Old Alabama Square), East Cobb (Merchants Walk) and Buckhead (Tuxedo Festival).  There is also one Duck Donuts in Savannah.  Walters tells ToNeTo Atlanta that he does not currently have plans for any additional Duck Donuts in metro Atlanta, nor does the Duck Donuts website indicate any others "coming soon" locally.

Are you excited for the opening of Duck Donuts at Toco Hills?  Are you pleased by the recent changes at Toco Hills Promenade and Toco Hills shopping center?  Where would you like to see Duck Donuts open next?

I like the new ecletic mix at Toco Hills but i wish it were more walkable. I wish it wasn't a sea of parking lots and they could turn it into a more inviting environment and add some green space and take out some parking.

I agree, Anon 12/23/19 11:03. The parking lot can be downright dangerous at times. It would be nice to have a sandwich and then go stroll over to get a donut rather than driving over.

I drove over today. Thank goodness there was plenty of parking for the donut shop and Publix. That would be terrible to have both of these amenities with no parking and have to find on-street parking on druid Hills road...

yeah - with a lot of greenspace and fewer parking spaces, how are you supposed to get there? Ride your bike down North Druid Hills? If that is the scene you are after, head to Ponce and you can pay to park your car and then overpay for everything you purchase there.

I was lucky enough to be able to stop by on opening day. Parking wasn't an issue and the donuts were delicious!!
