[SOUND THE ALARM] Firehouse Subs Goes Out in Sandy Springs

The Firehouse Subs along Roswell Road in Sandy Springs has closed.  The restaurant, located in a nearly 1,300 square foot space in the Trader Joe's and Pier 1 anchored Sandy Springs Plaza, reportedly closed without notice within the past week.  There is no signage confirming the closure on the restaurant's door and patrons who contacted ToNeTo Atlanta distraught over the closure indicate they were given no warning.
Despite still being listed as a tenant on the site plan for Sandy Springs Plaza, the Sandy Springs location has already been removed from the Firehouse Subs website.  A Source close to the center tells ToNeTo Atlanta that the franchised restaurant had been behind in rent payments for several months.

A separate Firehouse Subs closed on Peachtree Road in Buckhead in 2017.  The roughly 1,500 square foot space was later reopened as Poke City.

For those seeking to satisfy their Firehouse Subs craving, the chain continues to operate several other Atlanta area locations including one on Cobb Parkway near Cumberland Mall, on 10th Street near Georgia Tech and another on Glenridge Drive at Glenridge Springs, about two miles from the shuttered store.

The Jacksonville, Florida-based franchise has nearly 100 other restaurants spread across Georgia.

Chicken Salad Chick, based in Auburn, Alabama, has long expressed interest in entering the Sandy Springs market and while they are reportedly still interested, the former Firehouse space is likely too small for their needs.

Are you sad to see Firehouse Subs close in Sandy Springs?  What is your favorite sub shop?  What would you like to see open in place of Firehouse Subs in Sandy Springs?

Please share your thoughts below.

The last time I ate there (about two weeks ago), there were some clues that this location was struggling. For starters, they seemed to be skimping on their deli meats, and orders took forever to be completed. Secondly, the employees just seemed like they were killing time and pulling a paycheck until they found a better gig elsewhere. Also, the wall-mounted soap dispenser in the men's room was empty, and in its place was a store-bought Softsoap dispenser filled with soapy water. "Someone's cutting corners," I thought. While waiting on my order, I turned to a fellow customer, who was also waiting on her order. "Ever get the feeling the restaurant you're eating at is dangling by a very thin thread?" I asked, trying to keep my voice down. She smirked and nodded wearily. Guess it wasn't my imagination.

LOL "distraught customers." Who gets distraught over a cheap chain restaurant closing? Find something better to worry about.

I've eaten at several Firehouse Subs locations, and this one had by far the worst service.

Is the space too small for a Gusto!?

Not surprised. I get my hair cut at the barber shop just above it and I've never seen anyone in there.
