[EXCLUSIVE] Big Al's Butter Made Burgers Bails on Buckhead

Big Al's Butter Made Burgers in Buckhead has closed.  The restaurant, located in a 1,420 square foot street level space at The Shops of Buckhead, a two story strip center south of Peachtree Battle, first opened in early 2015 and closed for good in recent days.  The restaurant made no mention of the closure either on its voicemail or its website but it has been marked permanently closed on Yelp.com and area sources confirmed its status to ToNeTo Atlanta.
The closure of Big Al's is the second food business to close in the Selig Enterprises-owned development in recent weeks.  Popular cupcake shop CamiCakes closed its shop in the center in July after a dispute over its lease and subsequent disagreement with Selig over new terms in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic and its crippling affects on small businesses.  CamiCakes had been a center mainstay since 2009.

Big Al's owner Alre Alson still operates The U Bar, home of Mandingo the mechanical bull, at Camp Creek Marketplace in East Point and the recently opened VVS Restaurant & Bar on Old National Highway in the Walmart-anchored Old National Town Center shopping center.

Were you a patron of Big Al's and surprised by the closure?  Who do you thinks offers the best burger for the buck in Buckhead?  What would you like to see open in place of Big Al's in Buckhead?

Please share your thoughts below.

Bring back Preferred To Go. They used to be in the space next door. They had great sandwiches and lunches to go and the guy who worked the front was really nice.

Big Al had a great concept, but his staff was the worst ever. Never paid attention to customers, got virtually every order of mine wrong, and was nonchalant about fixing the order. They also tried to upsell and add on the check without telling the customer.
Every time I ate there, I had a bad feeling about the place, and it was dirty.
Good riddance.
Area needs good chinese take out, but the rent is way too high. Firehouse could not make it there either, and no clue how the poke place is still open, because they have no business.

Ok at best. Service was weak and burger was dry. Bye

The Trump Pandemic rages on with no end in sight

Agree. Bad svc, orders frequently wrong and usually a manager had to come out and correct it. Had checks rang up wrong more than once with items on it that weren’t ordered. After it happened twice, it didn’t look accidental.

Not surprised to see that this place didn't make it. The poor customer service was poor, the store layout was terrible, and every surface was covered in grease or grime.

It was bad. I tried to like it but at the end it was a terrible place. Food had a weird taste at the end. Not sure if it was old grease or the food wasn't fresh. It was never busy. Service was terrible. Employees seemed to be on their smartphone phones and ignoring customers. Atmosphere smelled thick and hard to enjoy your dining experience when so many bad things were happening. Owner should never open another restaurant because he doesn't know what he is doing. Glad it is gone. NEXT!

Reading these reviews and ate there once, President Trump did ANOTHER thing right! Thank you President Trump for closing this place down! You're the best! It was awful!

I loved the burgers so very much…. Actually one of the favorite burger spots!! The service was not consistent because I truly believed they were understaffed and overworked which can be hard for morale and customer service consistency. I miss the spot very much… need that recipe !!
