[UPDATE] Cherokee Cattle Co. to Reopen as Cherokee Steak and BBQ

After months of silence and speculation, the owners of Cherokee Cattle Co. in Marietta have finally shed new light on their planned reopening complete with a short video showing work already underway.  In the video, posted Wednesday to the restaurant's official facebook page, chef/owner Gus Tselios says renovations are "gonna take a little time as everything, because if you're gonna do it right, it takes a little time." Tselios, calling Cherokee Cattle Company "our favorite restaurant," also ends the video by announcing a new name: Cherokee Steak and BBQ.

ToNeTo Atlanta reported in March on the uncertainty surrounding the restaurant which had sat idle since March 23, 2020.  (Despite having previously indicated they were already under renovation, work seems only recently to have begun.)

Located at 2710 Canton Road, Cherokee Cattle Co. (CCC) first opened in 1982, and was purchased by Constantine "Gus" Tselios and business partner Jerry Tillem in 2007.  Cobb County property records indicate that not only does Tselios own the restaurant, but through Prince & Angels, LLC, he also owns the nearly 10,000 square foot building and more than one acre parcel on which the restaurant is located.  Tselios and Tillem previously completed an extensive renovation and expansion of the restaurant in 2011.

Cherokee Cattle is one of six restaurants under the Marietta Family Restaurants umbrella which also includes the Marietta Diner, Pasta Bella, Marietta Fish Market, Yeero Village and Casa Grande Bar & Grill.

Earlier Thursday, we shared news that Davio's Northern Italian Steakhouse, a restaurant that had previously permanently closed at Phipps Plaza in Buckhead plans to reopen later this year after coming to an agreement with landlord Simon Properties.

Are you excited for the reopening of Cherokee Steak and BBQ?  What is your favorite Marietta Family Restaurants concept?  Have you returned to your pre COVID dining habits?

Please share your thoughts below.

Miss that place. We were regulars. Great steaks. I hope they have had active pest / rodent control. Unoccupied buildings (especially restaurants) tend to draw rodents. Not insinuating there is a problem, but that’s the first thing I think about when a restaurant location is vacant.

I was by there less than 2 weeks ago and it didn't look like any work had been started.
