[EXCLUSIVE] Salad Spot Sweetgreen Scores Space at Star Metals

ToNeTo Atlanta has learned that Sweetgreen will open what will be its fourth Atlanta area outpost at Star Metals in West Midtown.  The new eatery will occupy a 2,700 square foot space at 1050 Howell Mill Road between wagamama and Savi Provisions in the street level of the new mixed-use development.

This past September, ToNeTo Atlanta was first to report on the  D.C. born and now Los Angeles-based eatery's planned Atlanta entry with a location at Ponce City Market.  That location opened June 8 and is slated to be followed September 7 by a location at Colony Square.  A third location is expected to open later this fall at Lenox Square in Buckhead.

The menu at Sweetgreen is a mashup of sorts between Upbeet and Flower Child - both already in the West Midtown market - with a variety of salads and warm bowls, but also "plates" which feature assorted proteins paired with a variety of grains and vegetables.

Established in 2007 by then recent Georgetown University grads Nicolas Jammet, Nathaniel Ru, and Jonathan Neman, the company has grown to more than 100 units across the country.  When the privately held company completed its latest round of financing, it was valued at  roughly $1.8 billion. Sweetgreen is said to have confidentially filed for an IPO (Initial Public Offering) in June with reported plans to go public this coming fall.
