[EXCLUSIVE] Dunkin' Hopes to Fill Donut Hole in Chastain Park

A new Dunkin' is planned for Chastain Park.  ToNeTo Atlanta has confirmed that following the recent demolition of the former Enterprise Rent-A-Car at 4487 Roswell Road, a new DTO (Drive-Thru Only) Dunkin' will replace it.  The Enterprise office, which in years past had previously housed a Blimpie sub shop, among other businesses, closed last year amidst the pandemic.

The recently demolished structure was 1,271 square feet, built in 1971 and sat on .26 acres, according to property records.  The new DTO Dunkin' will be 1,040 square feet and offer no interior service or seating of any kind, according to permits filed with the City of Atlanta.  The new Dunkin' is situated between existing businesses Three Dollar CafĂ© and Charles Allen Shell, just south of the City of Sandy Springs.  The doughnut shop will also be just south of existing locations of Einstein Bros. Bagels and Starbucks, the latter of which has a drive-thru.

The new Dunkin' is being opened by Kadirali Chunara, founder of Chunara Group of Companies, an Atlanta-based, family owned holding company with controlling interests in about 100 businesses, spanning eight brands and nine states.  The company's largest holdings are in Dunkin' and Checkers, where they currently operate 26 units of each brand.  The company also operates franchises of Church's Chicken, Kale Me Crazy, My Eyelab, Popeyes, Take 5 Oil Change, and TGI Fridays.

Chunara's current Atlanta area Dunkin' units include those at 1841 Piedmont Avenue in Piedmont Heights, 682 Boulevard near Ponce City Market, 120 Piedmont Avenue downtown, and 881 Peachtree Street in Midtown, among others.  This past October, Chunara, along with ZSC Enterprises, another significant Atlanta area Dunkin' franchisee, partnered to purchase the former PeachDish production facility at 3528 Browns Mill Road in southeast Atlanta.  The two franchise partners plan to convert the food prep facility into a doughnut and other baked goods facility that at full capacity will be able to supply 150 Dunkin' units.

An example of a DTO Dunkin'

The new Dunkin' marks the return of sorts to the area following the 2014 closure of the Dunkin' at Powers Ferry Square, about a mile and half south on Roswell Road.  The former Dunkin', which had a drive-thru, reopened in 2015 as Atlanta's first bartaco.  In 2019, a Dunkin without a drive-thru opened within the rebuilt Shell convenience store at the corner of Roswell and Powers Ferry Roads.

Dunkin', which was in acquired in late 2020 by Atlanta-based Inspire Brands, has opened several locations in metro Atlanta in recent years including those on Moreland Avenue, Lawrenceville Highway, Marietta Boulevard and another DTO Dunkin' which opened this past January in a former [DTO] Wendy's on Barrett Creek Boulevard, just off Barrett Parkway, in Marietta.

Are you excited for the opening of the upcoming DTO Dunkin' in Chastain Park?  What is your favorite doughnut flavor?  Where else would you like to see Dunkin' open in metro Atlanta?

A Krispy Kreme would be better! Would rather eat a hockey puck than a Dunkin Donut.
