[EXCLUSIVE] Meat Distributor Bringing Artisan Butcher Shop to Alpharetta AND East Cobb

The owners of a popular locally owned butcher shop and market are bringing their business not only to Alpharetta but to East Cobb, too!  Audrey and Chad Stine, wife and husband team at Cleaver & Cork, will in the coming days (potentially as soon as Monday, December 13) open an outpost on Haynes Bridge Road in Alpharetta and will this coming March make their East Cobb debut a few doors down from Goldberg's along Johnson Ferry Road.  The Stines launched their business - which proudly wants to be "your local butcher" - in Sharpsburg in 2018 before opening in nearby downtown Newnan in December 2020.

Audrey, a native of British Columbia, and Chad, a native of Kansas, met fortuitously about two decades ago while each was representing Certified Angus Beef (CAB), Audrey for a food distributor in Canada and Chad in America.  The Stines came to Atlanta in 2001 when Chad was named President of Buckhead Beef Company.  Chad held the position for nearly thirteen years before stepping down in September 2014 to launch Revere Meat Co., where he is co-founder and CEO.

Cleaver & Cork has a natural leg up in the procurement of their meats and seafood given the relationship with Revere which affords them the opportunity to offer specialty items such as Wagyu hot dogs and meatballs.  In addition to top quality meats and seafood, the Stines also curate an assortment of primarily local provisions from such makers as Banner Butter, Proper Pepper, makers of small batch pimento cheese, Sweet Kaki's, known for their apple pies, artisan bacon and other southern-made foods and household goods.

The "cork" in the company's name relates to their efforts to make the store a "one stop shop," with a curated wine selection, too.  Audrey makes a point of partnering with select local distributors that can provide her with specialty wine that is not only a good value for patrons but also not something readily available at their local supermarket.

The majority of their store's current offerings are grocery items that need to be cooked, but Chad tells ToNeTo Atlanta that they plan to offer more prepared foods at both the Alpharetta and East Cobb locations.  In addition to the Alpharetta and East Cobb outposts, Chad also told us that they plan to open a fifth Cleaver & Cork on Broadway in a new adaptive reuse project called Highside Market in Columbus later next summer.

The upcoming Cleaver & Cork in East Cobb

The Alpharetta Cleaver & Cork is 3,000 square feet and occupies about half of the former Alpha Soda restaurant at 11760 Haynes Bridge Road.  The East Cobb location is 2,200 square feet and occupies the former Fit Body Boot Camp at 1062 Johnson Ferry Road.  Chad tells us that future locations will likely be about the size of the East Cobb shop.

Following the closure of The Fresh Market in Woodlawn Square in late 2019 and the imminent closure of GreenWise Market by Publix, both upscale East Cobb grocery options, Cleaver & Cork should be a welcome addition to the East Cobb community.
