[CLOSURE ALERT] Fox Bros. Taking a Hike from Mercedes Benz Stadium

This coming Sunday will bring something extra scary to sports fans in Atlanta: a future without Fox Bros Bar-B-Q at Mercedes Benz Stadium.  The popular Atlanta-based barbecue business owned by pitmaster brothers Jonathan and Justin Fox announced Friday afternoon that this coming Sunday will be the last day of service for the restaurant that opened with the stadium in 2017.

In an Instagram post, the restaurant thanked AMB (Arthur M. Blank) and Levy Restaurants and recalled the many "wins" and moments the restaurant was able to take part in including SEC Championships, College Football Championships, an Atlanta United MLS Championship win and a Super Bowl, among other events.

The restaurant did not provide a reason for the closure, instead encouraging fans to join them at one of their three stands in Mercedes Benz Stadium this coming Sunday to watch the Atlanta Falcons take on the Carolina Panthers at 1PM.

The Fox brothers opened the original brick & mortar Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q on DeKalb Avenue in Candler Park in 2007.  A decade later, the brothers opened a second location of sorts within the Terrapin Taproom at SunTrust (now Truist) Park.  In late 2016, the brothers introduced the "que-osk" a mini restaurant opened in a converted shipping container at Armour Yards on Ottley Drive.  A huge new location, 9,300 square feet, with two patios and seating for more than 300 patrons, was delayed from an expected 2020 opening, but eventually opened last August at The Works off Chattahoochee Avenue in northwest Atlanta.

ToNeTo Atlanta reported last April that a new Fox Bros. is planned for Brookhaven Station in Brookhaven, and while those plans are reportedly still on track, an opening timetable is seemingly still a moving target.

Are your surprised to see Fox Bros. close in Merceses Benz Stadium?  Have you been to the new Fox Bros. in The Works?  Who in Atlanta do think makes the best barbecue?

Please share your thoughts below.

Eh, they don't allow dogs on their patio in The Battery. Truthfully, there is better BBQ at MBS (the BBQ mac and cheese and BBQ nacho stands) at a lower price.

I'm guessing the 1 percenters that can still afford to go to Falcon games at Mercedes Benz aren't too big on BBQ. BBQ is more of a middle class thing.

Not everyone cares to eat with Dogs, Karen

I wasn't aware only the 1% could afford a $35 ticket.
