[OPENING ALERT] Cherokee Chophouse to Finally Reopen This Week in Cobb County

The Cobb County restaurant formerly known as Cherokee Cattle Co. announced Sunday that it will reopen Wednesday November 9 for dinner only.  Reservations, while available, are offered exclusively via OpenTable.com.  The restaurant, unlike others in the Marietta Family Restaurants portfolio, has remained closed since March 23, 2020, at the start of the pandemic.  The restaurant - 2710 Canton Road - remained closed for more than year before owner Gus Tselios took to Facebook last June to announce renovations have indeed started, but "would take a little time."

In the June announcement, Tselios, who also owns Marietta Fish Market and Marietta Diner, among other area restaurants, indicated that the Cherokee restaurant would adopt a new name:  Cherokee Steak and BBQ.  Somewhere along the line that name (and BBQ as a menu offering) were abandoned, with Tselios instead adopting Cherokee Chophouse as the restaurant name with a focus primarily on steak.

According to the newly released Cherokee Chophouse menu, the restaurant sources their steaks "from specific Midwestern ranches."  We cook all our steaks on mesquite wood from Texas. Wet aged 26-35 days."

It's unclear why renovations of Cherokee took so long, but sources close to the restaurant tell ToNeTo Atlanta that the near complete overhaul of the more than forty year old building introduced unique challenges - some of which even Windex couldn't cure - and that getting all permit approvals was not as fast as some might have hoped.

ToNeTo Atlanta has visited the restaurant a couple of times in recent months, and we can say with certainty that you won't recognize it!  It's often said that good things take time and while things definitely took longer than anticipated, many hungry diners will no doubt be pleased to hear a local favorite will be open once more.

According to the Cherokee Chophouse website, the restaurant will be open from 4pm - 10pm Sunday through Thursday, 4pm - 11pm Fridays and Saturdays, and closed on Mondays.

Are you excited for the reopening of Cherokee Chophouse?  Have you already made a reservation for the new restaurant?  What is your favorite Marietta Family Restaurants concept?

Hope their food quality stays the same because their choice of new design makes it look like every other chain out there.

Great. Happy to have you back!

LOL. What chain does this look like? Food quality was poor even before CCo’s final days. Hopefully they are bringing in all new kitchen staff to compliment the remodel.

I don't get the hype around marietta family restaurants, having eaten at most if not all of them. the food is just so-so.

Go inside. It looks like no chain restaurant I know of. New chef & food is very, very good! Not a Longhorn, closer to a high end steak house.

I went to the grand opening last night and it was amazing. I had the fried calamari and mac and cheese fritters for appetizers. They both were well prepared. We had the house salad and baked potato soup. For our entree we selected the bone in pork chop. They were moist and meaty. The flavor combination was dynamic. The ambience was pleasant and relaxing. I have been anticipating the opening of the Chophouse and I was not disappointed.
