[ALERT] Crate & Barrel Opening New Outlet Store in Metro Atlanta

Home furnishings retailer Crate & Barrel will later this week open a new outlet store in metro Atlanta.  The store, located at 5300 Peachtree Boulevard in Chamblee, will occupy a freestanding former Office Depot which has sat vacant since the office supply store closed in 2021.  The new store will be the first in metro Atlanta for the Northbrook, Illinois-based retailer.

The company operates full line stores at The Shops Around Lenox in Buckhead and at Avalon in Alpharetta as well as a warehouse in Duluth.  The company also in 2021 brought its CB2 brand back to metro Atlanta with a store at Westside Provisions District in West Midtown.

Signage at the store announces the new Crate & Barrel outlet will open Friday, February 17 and according to real estate sources, will likely remain open for about a year given the company has reportedly signed a short-term lease.  Another real estate source called the former Office Depot building "structurally obsolete," which may explain why it has been vacant for so long.

Real estate sources tell ToNeTo Atlanta that Crate & Barrel considered several sites in metro Atlanta for their new store, including at least one in Sandy Springs, before deciding on the Chamblee location.

The store's windows are not currently covered so one can easily get a glimpse of the products the store will carry which seem to focus heavily on furniture, particularly couches and chairs.  Signage on the store's windows indicate the store will also carry merchandise from sibling brands Crate & kids and CB2.

ToNeTo Atlanta has visited Crate & Barrel Outlet stores in other markets and in our experience, true "bargains" are few and far between, but for those in the market, savings of what seems to be 10-30% off retail may still be worthwhile.

Rival home furnishings retailer Pottery Barn opened a "warehouse sale" clearance store in 2017 near Southlake Mall in Morrow but closed it about a year later.  The company, along with sibling brands Williams-Sonoma and West Elm, all continue to operate traditional outlet stores at the North Georgia Premium Outlets in Dawsonville.  RH (Restoration Hardware) also operates an outlet in Dawsonville at Dawsonville Marketplace.

Elsewhere in metro Atlanta, Frontgate and Ballard Designs both operate outlets in Roswell.

Are you excited for the opening of Crate & Barrel Outlet in Chamblee?  What is your favorite furniture store?  What brand's outlet store do think offers the best deals?

Check your address, it seems to be some dude's condo.

Former Office Depot was at 5300 Peachtree Industrial Blvd Chamblee GA 30341

Really enjoy this site and thanks for all of your hard work here!

This is their second entry into the area with an outlet. They had an outlet store at North Georgia Premium Outlets for about 10 years. It closed around 2006.

What happens after the one year lease? They close up permanently, rebuild on site or move?

Chamblee is getting better all the time. Looking forward to shopping there…where ever it is.

Glad to see something open up with so many places closing.

Hardee's has closed their freestanding restaurant at 2520 Delk road. Signs have been removed and there is a sign in front of the building listing the building is for lease.

Assume that the company owns the property and they would like to see a new establishment open up at that spot. Hopefully, the company offered jobs to the staff, there are not too many Hardees or Carl's JR. around town.

Learned recently that Chamblee real estate is more expensive than North Buckhead now based on price per sq. ft. Not having to deal with City of Atlanta's crime and corruption must be so nice.

I like Hardee's but that place had terrible people providing below bad service. They need to work at Target or at the motel next door. No surprise it closed. They ran it dead.

@February 17, 2023 at 7:54 AM - Where do you see Chamblee is more expensive than North Buckhead per square feet? I see some 4k square foot condo going for $4- $5 million in Buckhead. A similar sized condo if they even have one that size will be $1 million or less. Same for single family homes. I saw a 6k square foot Buckhead new construction going for $7 million while one in Chamblee is in the $2 million range.
