[EXCLUSIVE] P.F. Chang's Opening in Place of Shuttered Saks

We visited Nashville recently and while we won't be expanding there quite yet, we did happen upon some exciting news.  A new P.F. Chang's is planned for Opry Mills!  The new restaurant will open alongside an outpost of The Cheesecake Factory which debuted at the outlet mall this past fall.  Both restaurants share space previously occupied by Saks OFF FIFTH.

The new P.F. Chang's will be about 5,600 square feet including an enclosed patio.  Typical full service P.F. Chang's restaurants are about 8,000 square feet but the Scottsdale, Arizona-based company has in recent years worked to do more with less as it opened both smaller restaurants and even more compact "P.F. Chang's To Go" locations.

As seen in the above photo, the new restaurant will also have a dedicated "takeout" door likely to streamline takeout and delivery orders.

At Opry Mills, the new P.F. Chang's will be similar in size and appearance to the P.F. Chang's that opened at Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody this past February.

P.F. Chang's currently operates two restaurants in metro Nashville including those in Midtown near Vanderbilt University and in Franklin near Cool Springs.  The company also operates other Tennessee restaurants in Chattanooga, Memphis and Knoxville.   The company operates five locations in Georgia.

Opened in 2000, Opry Mills and the entire Mills Corporation portfolio were acquired in 2007 by Simon Property Group.  The historic Tennessee flooding of May 2010 - where floodwaters in the mall reached as high as 10 feet - forced the property to close.  After months of litigation and eventual renovations, Opry Mills finally reopened March 29, 2012.

Today the outlet mall is anchored by Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World, Forever 21, Dave & Buster's and Regal Cinemas and is also home to full-service restaurants including the aforementioned Cheesecake Factory as well as Chili's, Chuy's, Rainforest Cafe, Romano's Macaroni Grill, Saltgrass Steak House and T.G.I. Friday's, among others. A new outpost of Olive Garden is also expected to open at the property soon.

Are you excited for the addition of P.F. Chang's to Opry Mills?  What other restaurants would you like to see open at Opry Mills?  What Nashville or Atlanta area restaurant would you like to expand to the opposite city?

Please share your thoughts below.

Why are you writing about Nashville? This page is about Atlanta

Nashville is killing it. They have a ton of excellent restaruants and places to go. If you want to see what a food hall is supposed to look like - check out the one in Nashville. It's multiple stories.

All that said, is anyone really excited about a PF Changs?

He's writing about Nashville because the restaurant scene in Atlanta is so lame and boring.

You're not wrong. ITP Atlanta loves nothing more than inferior imitations of cuisine popular in Brooklyn or San Francisco 10 years ago.

Yeah, definitely no thriving ethnic restaurant scene ITP.

The amount of $&)(;):” crime and lack of support for law enforcement renders ITP, pretty much a no go zone ! Trooo dat!!!
