The owners of The Bronx Bagel Buggy, a popular farmers market vendor, have found a permanent home for their bagels, bagel egg sandwiches, bagel dogs, bialys, stuffed cakes and more! Loyal ToNeTo Atlanta reader and OTP foodie Joe Duffy, aka @AtlantaGrubber, made us aware of the plans which were confirmed by the owners themselves.
Business and life partners Steven Novotny and Julie Dragich launched Bronx Bagel Buggy at farmers markets in 2021. The duo blended their Italian and Polish backgrounds to create what they feel is the ideal kettle boiled bagel. The duo's bagels, bialys and famous "bialy bombs," (stuffed bialy), and other baked goods are still available at select farmers markets including those in Brookhaven and Alpharetta.
"We only source fresh ingredients, and always start with a well of flour, and a pinch of this and that, just the way "babcia" and "nonna" baked. That’s the story of how the Bronx Bagel Buggy was born and blended into a big, bold taste of the North in the South."
Residents of nearby Brookhaven, Novotny and Dragich wanted to open in their community and were pleased to have found a space so close to everything where neighbors from Brookhaven, Chamblee and elsewhere could come and enjoy their baked goods.
Initially the menu will focus primarily on bagels and bialys, but the couple plans to ramp up their offerings - with potential cakes, cookies, and other pastries - added to the eatery's offerings in the weeks and months to come. The existing variety of house-made cream cheeses including Raspberry Jalapeno and Cinnamon Pecan, will likely see the addition of new flavors and dairy-free options, too.
Plans call for The Bronx Bagel Buggy to offer counter service with about 20 or so seats inside for those choosing to eat in the shop.
Work on the space is well underway with Dragich telling ToNeTo Atlanta that they are currently on track to open by early September.

This sounds very appealing. Looking forward to their opening. Best of luck!
So excited to know that this farmers market favorite of mine will be available during the week! I love the poppyseed bagel with the scallion cream cheese made with red onion - Yum!
While most of us hunkered down during Covid, my friends decided the world needed better bagels. Steven is from the Bronx and Julie is an amazing chef. Through many, many trials the Bronx Bagel Buggy was born. They have taken Atlanta by storm. The lines at the markets on Saturday mornings are always wrapped around the parking lots. It is quite a sight to see. Now, the brick and mortar store will open next month. I am so excited for these guys.
Call me a cynic, but their bagels probably are boring and basic and overpriced.
Best bagels in Atlanta
Happy to get you a few to try. Stop by Brookhaven or Alpharetta this weekend and let me know you are the anonymous cynic. Hope to change your mind
Thanks!
Thanks for the kind words!
The Best Bagels in Atlanta. Thank you both for catering my Baby Shower, Everyone loved the bagel booms, baileys and the breakfast sandwiches. Your cream cheese choices are exceptional. Everyone was so pleased
Best Bagels around, Thank you Julie and Steven for catering my Breakfast at the last minute for 75 people, not everyone could have pulled that off. Everyone was so pleased, the bagels and bailys are Fantastic, and the home made cream cheese was Delicious. Great breakfast sandwich’s. Your muffins so yummy. Everyone was so pleased, you have a lot more customers from that breakfast. Will be calling you soon for another order. Wishing you both the best of luck .
they aren't
Thanks so much for the kind words!! We enjoyed it.
Happy everyone enjoyed!
Their bagels are on par with any bagel I have eaten in New York. What sets them apart though is the creativity in the cream cheese spreads and bialys (plain or stuffed). I especially love the fact that these two are not ever satisfied with just good product and want everything they offer to be exceptional.
Thanks for the shout out!
Looking forward to giving them a try - good bialys are like the dodo bird in these parts!
Yeah! So excited!
gosh, it looks like the compliments were written by the owners. wow, that is lame
why anyone would prefer them over nearby Eli's Pita/Best Bread's baked goods is beyond common sense. Best Bread is the best. NOw if we could only convince them to open more than just one or two days per week...
Extremely low bar there.
Incorrect. Your dodo reference implies they once existed here but now are extinct. They never existed here.
Do they actually make the cream cheese or just mix things into what the supplier brings?
Maybe I missed it, are they affiliated with Bronx bagels BBs Bagels in Alpharetta? If so, They absolutely will be a welcome addition in their new location! If not, can't wait to try them 🙂
Ok, is this better? You’re a dodo.
Yes, they have a dairy out back where they breed cows and get milk and make cream cheese . How’d you guess?
Yes, you should stop by and say these rude comments to the owner in person! But you won’t.
So no one has asked, what’s a Bialy? I’m surprised.
You are correct, I won’t waste my time going out of my way to make those comments to them. But, if I happened to be where they were anyway, I would 100% tell them how I really felt.
No, I am not.
Well, some places could make their own cream cheese. It is an important distinction.
Because you’re a douche
And some places could churn their own butter, sew their own tablecloths, make their dinnerware in a kiln out back. Is all that really an important distinction? “Ugh, this fork wasn’t forged out back? Forget it! My mouth can only touch locally made cutlery!”
So, giving honest feedback to a business owner makes you a douche? Bless your heart.
*locally-made.
What is a bialy?
lolz
dodo
Walking in and saying “I’d bet your product sucks” then walking out without trying it? Yes that makes you a douche. Bless your twat!
they are not
This has to be the worst conversation thread I have ever read on this blog. And one of the things that makes it bad is that it appears that the "proprietor" is responding to individual posts.
No I’m not! I mean, no he’s not. I mean, ooops!!
I realize it was not actually implied, so let me clarify that I would have tried them before commenting. Sigh.
The comment threads are quite often awful.
To the person who mentioned the best bread, never heard of it, I asked around nobody I know has ever heard of it, incidentally, though I accidentally stumbled upon the place, which is down a long forgotten stretch off of Peachtree Boulevard and Chamblee. This place is the a pitta me of a hole in the wall, however, not in the good sense. I also wanted to mention that actually the person who posted about the spread, that particular post actually sounds like the proprietor posted it themselves. The last thing I wanted to mention was that I grew up in New York City bagels and pizza Archie, New York, white, sweet tea, and Chick-fil-A Are to Atlanta. Just like looking at the picture that Eli posted I could tell they have really really good bagels at this Bronx bagel buggy turned brick and mortar to be in Chamblee come on. Hey that rhymes, I absolutely can’t wait to check it out. It happens to be next to my barber Woohoo who!
Archie Bunker?
They had me at Bagel Bombs, Bagel Dogs. and Bacon Bagel Egg n Cheese! You truly get what you pay for!
What kind of AZZ makes an impressionable comment without any evidence and knowledge?
Ohhhh, that ignorant one…..
