[ALERT] Local Burger Joint Scores "Killer" Location For New Upper Westside Spot

If you had a new burger joint on your Upper Westside wish life, you're in luck!  Grindhouse Killer Burgers, the locally owned burger spot with several locations around town, plans to open its next location near The Works, along Chattahoochee Avenue in the growing Upper Westside community.  The new restaurant, the eighth overall, will be situated on a half-acre lot at 1221 Chattahoochee Avenue, at the corner of Ellsworth Industrial Boulevard, formerly a SunTrust Bank.

Operated by partners Alex Brounstein and Johnny Farrow, early renderings of the 7,000 square-foot building from Studio SOGO Architecture feature a second-story roof deck with indoor and outdoor dining that will be designed by Elizabeth Ingram Studio.  Brounstein tells ToNeTo Atlanta that he plans to convert the former bank building and add a second floor patio rather than building from scratch.  Despite starting with a structure, the renovation and second story addition will take time, with plans currently projecting a 2025 opening.

Brounstein opened the first Grindhouse Killer Burgers in the historic Sweet Auburn Curb Market in 2009.  Although that location was sold and later closed in 2020, the concept has grown into its own, with four standalone locations in metro Atlanta, one in Athens, and two inside Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  Brounstein and Farrow also co-own Breaker Breaker, a seafood restaurant that opened this past summer along the Eastside BeltLine.

Known for its proprietary blend of Certified Angus chuck and brisket cuts of beef, Grindhouse burgers can be ordered in a variety of styles including beef, turkey, veggie, or Impossible, a plant-based meat alternative. The restaurant also features a full-service bar with an extensive beer program, milkshakes, and boozy shakes, among other offerings.

There are so many great neighborhood communities surrounding this new location, when we found this opportunity, it felt like a no-brainer,” said Brounstein.

Chattahoochee Avenue has become a prominent corridor for retail, dining, and entertainment in Atlanta,” said Mindy Selig, Senior Vice President of Retail Leasing at Selig, landlord of the property. “Grindhouse Killer Burgers will further establish this thoroughfare as a hub for iconic dining, and we are excited to welcome them to the Upper Westside.”

Are you excited about the opening of Grindhouse Killer Burgers on the Upper Westside?  What is your favorite burger joint in town?  Who in Atlanta do you think offers the best french fries?

Really like Grindhouse usually eat at the one on Piedmont. I'm really more of a fish/chicken person, but if I want good burger they are at the top of my list. So, good luck...
