[WOAH] Alpharetta Restaurant Shutters After Less Than A Year, Now For Sale

Yumbii has closed its incredibly short-lived taco shop near Avalon in Alpharetta.  The restaurant - located at 2685 Old Milton Parkway - was announced in January 2022 with a planned opening that spring.  For unspecified reasons the restaurant did not open until April 2023.

Local ToNeTo Atlanta readers reported that the restaurant looked "abandoned" as long ago as November and had been removed from the Yumbii website.

In December, an employee at another Yumbii told ToNeTo Atlanta that the Alpharetta restaurant was closed "temporarily" and would reopen at some point.  It's unlikely that was ever the case and the restaurant is now being marketed for sale for $175,000.

Although open for about seven months, the restaurant only received 18 reviews on Yelp.com with a rating of 3.4.

The restaurant's first review, from April 2023, states:

"Service was slow to take our order. Need to train cashiers before they start. $2.00 for a glass of water. I give them 6 months. Food was dry and not worth the wait. Will try in 7 months."

Steve Josovitz of The Shumacher Group is marketing the restaurant.  According to the sales offering, the 2,200 square foot endcap space (previously Bezoria), offers inside seating for 54, plus limited patio seating.

The sale does include all FF&E, but does not include the brand, recipes or business.  Also included in the deal is the current lease of $11,000 monthly "all in" rent with 9 years remaining and an option to renew.

Carson Young launched Yumbii as a food truck in 2010 before going brick & mortar with a location in Brookwood Hills in 2017.  Young, along with his wife Katy, would go on to open additional locations in Toco Hills (August 2020), Moores Mill (October 2022) and Midtown Promenade (October 2023).  A location was announced for Chamblee Plaza in 2019, but was cancelled in 2020.  The Youngs also launched a sibling concept, The Queso Shop, with locations in Toco Hills and Moores Mill with a third planned for Midtown Promenade.

Are you surprised to see Yumbii close in Alpharetta?  Why do you think restaurants like Yumbii, Bezoria and Pieology have all struggled in this plaza?  What would you like to see open in place of Yumbii in Alpharetta?

Please share your thoughts below.

What happened to the one guy who always would comment about restaurants failing ITP because we only want "vegan pizza"? I assume that people like that are the reason those restaurants failed.

Man I miss Bezoria in that spot.

I think the Queso shop in Toco Hills is closed as well, the ordering kiosk has been locked up every time I’ve been by recently

They were only open like 4 hours a day. There's no way you're going to make that rent with that low of a check average only being open from 11:00 to 3:00.

When they were just a food truck, they served me raw chicken, and then were completely unapologetic when I brought it back and showed them. Never again after that incident

I Could see the location on the Westside closing as well. No one is ever in there.
