[ALERT] Popular Meat Shop Suspending Retail Operations Less Than Two Years After Reopening

Patak Meat Products, a manufacturer of fine European meats and sausages, announced February 13 that it is suspending its retail store operations.  The company referred to the closure as "temporary" but gave no indication as to when or if the retail store would reopen.  As of now the store is slated to close as of March 1.

Established in 1981, Patak Meats has developed a devoted following for their house-smoked meats and sausages as well as a variety of imported cheeses, chocolates, spices and more. Patak is located at 4107 Ewing Road in Austell, not far from West Cobb.    The store, located on the same property as the company's production facility, had been closed for more than a year following an August 2021 fire at the factory that heavily damaged the business.  The company resumed limited online sales over the course of 2022 but it was not until late October 2022 that the retail store resumed normal operations.

In their Facebook post, the company cited "unprecedented times" as part of the reasoning for the closure but did not cite any specific cause leading them to shutter their retail store.

"After much reflection and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our retail store, effective March 1, 2024.

We want to assure you that this decision did not come easily, and we understand the impact it will have. Unfortunately, these are unprecedented times, and we have to adapt in order to provide you with the best service possible.

Though our retail store will not be open to the public, you will still be able to order Patak Meats online on our website. We'll offer options for shipping or pickup at our location, based on your preference. In the weeks ahead, we will share more details regarding in-store pickup.

As we embark on this transition, we want to express our heartfelt appreciation for your understanding, patience, unwavering support and continued patronage. We are truly blessed to have the best customers around."

The company seemed to leave open the possibility of reopening at some point adding,

"We will do our best to address any questions you may have in the coming weeks via social media and email, and we look forward to the future when we will once again welcome you back through our doors with open arms."

The company's store will be open from 9 am until 5 pm each day through Friday, March 1.

They also take orders online and ship across the continental United States. Next-day shipping is available in Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina, and north Florida.  Patak also has wholesale relationships with food suppliers like US Foods and Sysco.

Did you know Patak Meat Products existed? Have you been to Patak Meat Products?  Where do you buy the majority of your specialty meats?

Was just in there on Monday afternoon. They had barely any product in the coolers (no fresh meats at all, just a few cured items) and there was a weird vibe. I guess this explains why.

Sorry to learn about the closing. Recently learned about the store and shopped there several times.

Best wishes to the associates and the company.

I was able to get by on their final day of Retail sales. Very limited selection. They did say the retail closing was temporary and they have plans to reopen for walk-in customers.

Heartbroken to not have Patak! Hoping they will reopen. In the meantime, I am able to get some similar items (smoked sausages, German meats & European grocery items @ Bernhard’s German Bakery (Atlanta Rd). Also, Atlanta Smokehouse Products (Enterprise Dr off Cobb Parkway) has European smoked fish and European grocery items.

The same question. Do you have documentation, charges filed, or other means of proving such an astounding accusation ?
We've shopped there for 20+ years, our local K of C Council ordered Patak products for their events, and the quality and service was always superb.
Please share your experience that led you to to your conclusion. By the way, the owners are Polish and Czech.
