It's been nearly seven years since we first reported on TJX Cos. then new concept store, Homesense. The store, a companion to HomeGoods in the same way Marshalls is a companion to TJ Maxx, stocks housewares and home accessories but with a different product assortment than its TJX sibling. Now, with fifty-six stores open and three more opening in April, we've finally confirmed where the first Atlanta area store will be.
ToNeTo Atlanta has in recent months reported on several other former Bed Bath & Beyond stores becoming new businesses. In Buckhead, a former Bed Bath & Beyond will open later this year as metro Atlanta's first Bloomingdale's The Outlet while others in Akers Mill Square near Cumberland Mall and at the Edgewood Retail District both became new Burlington stores. In East Cobb, most of a former Bed Bath & Beyond became a new, smaller format concept store from Barnes & Noble.
This past April, ToNeTo Atlanta reported that a new Homesense was planned for Johns Creek Town Center in Johns Creek/Suwanee. For reasons unknown to us, the store ultimately opened as a HomeGoods rather than a Homesense.
This is thus far the only known Homesense location in the immediate pipeline for Georgia. The company (NYSE: TJX) operates several Homesense stores in North Carolina, Florida, and Virginia, so further expansion in and around Georgia seems inevitable. Sibling brand HomeGoods, launched in 1992, today has more than 900 locations nationwide including more than two dozen stores in greater metro Atlanta.
In the years since our original post, we visited a Homesense in Columbia, Maryland which had opened in place of a former Staples. The store is similar to Homegoods but has a greater focus on lighting and furniture and less of a focus on small goods and food.
The new Homesense in Peachtree City should be open by the end of the year.
Have you been to a Homesense store? What is your favorite off-price retailer? Where else in metro Atlanta would you like to see Homesense open?

Homesense in Alpharetta please!!
we would love a HomeSense near Braselton Georgia, up-and-coming growing area lots of people to demand a store like that near us! π
Visited this week in Ft. Myers, FL! WHAT A FABULOUS store and even more fabulous prices! Hurry!
I do not think Peachtree city is a good area. All of Metro North, Georgia is not going to want to travel that far south to go to a HomeSense south of Atlanta is just not a desirable area to be when you live north of the city too much traffic to go through to get there
I do not think Metro North is a good area. I think Peachtree City would be a great spot for a store. Our Home Goods is always so packed to the rooftop you can really look and shop. It’s way too small for this area. If you don’t believe me check out how much money they bring in on any given day. I have never been with out a line to check out. Manager said people are waiting daily at the door when they open. That speaks volumes Please Kedron shopping facility. It would be a great place!!! Thank you!!!!
Maybe we need a HomeSense north of Atlanta and south of Atlanta
