[EXCLUSIVE] Significantly Smaller BrandsMart USA Plots Return to Kennesaw

Home electronics and appliance retailer BrandsMart USA is coming back to Kennesaw!  Siteplans for Cobb Place shopping center (840 Ernest W Barrett Parkway) confirm that BrandsMart will open in the former Bed Bath & Beyond space, a roughly 45,000 square foot suite between existing anchors DSW and Cost Plus World Market.

ToNeTo Atlanta readers and Kennesaw residents will recall that the Fort Lauderdale, Florida-based electronics retailer previously operated a 113,000 square foot store at 3305 Busbee Drive.  The store, a huge freestanding building like the BrandsMart USA in Doraville, opened in 2005 but was shuttered, along with another mega store in Buford, in 2014. The upcoming  Kennesaw store is just over two miles from their former store.  The former store was purchased by Kennesaw State University for $12.55 million in 2015.

Rival electronics and appliance retailer Best Buy already  operates both  a full-line store as well as a separate outlet store in nearby Barrett Pavilion.

Atlanta-based Aaron's Co., operators of the successful Aaron's chain of rent-to-own stores, purchased BrandsMart USA in 2022.  At the time of the purchase, BrandsMart operated ten stores, including local stores in Doraville and Stockbridge as well as as a "outlet clearance center" in South Florida.

The company opened a new store in Augusta in 2023, bringing its total to eleven stores ahead of the Kennesaw debut.

Since Bed Bath & Beyond's 2023 bankruptcy and liquidation, many of the retailer's former Atlanta area stores have become new things.

ToNeTo Atlanta exclusively reported March 28 that the former Bed Bath & Beyond in Peachtree City is becoming Georgia's first Homesense, a new HomeGoods sibling store from TJX Cos.  ToNeTo Atlanta was also first to report February 29 that Bloomingdale's the outlet store will also open its first Atlanta area store in the majority of the former Bed Bath & Beyond in Buckhead.

Barnes & Noble opened a new East Cobb store last year in most of the former Bed Bath & Beyond while Burlington has opened in place of multiple former locations around metro Atlanta including those in Edgewood Retail District and Akers Mill Square.

The new BrandsMart USA in Kennesaw is slated to open later this summer.

Are you a fan of BrandsMart USA?  Do you think BrandsMart USA will do well in its smaller format?  Where do you do the majority of your home appliance and electronics shopping?

My freezer seemed to die, so I ran out to the one in Doraville and got a replacement delivered two days after I was in the store. I think this is actually a pretty standard delivery time frame. Really I have no issues with them. Appliances with fewer 'bells and whistles' sometimes last longer and are easier to repair than the 'coolest' ones with fancy displays, wifi, etc.

I think they're now regretting closing the one in Buford by Mall of GA. That area is so developed now.

Visited the Doraville location many years ago and quite a sight with the layout of the store and the. Conveyor belt system.
Purchased a camera and got the high pressure sales pitch for an extended warranty.

Hope they keep the 88.88 price structure at the new store.
