[EXCLUSIVE] Verde Taqueria Looking to Grow Again With Planned Peachtree Hills Restaurant

Verde Taqueria is growing again with plans to open a new restaurant in Peachtree Hills.  The new Verde is opening at 10 Kings Circle, not far from Peachtree Battle, where the taqueria will open in place of a space vacated in August by breakfast joint J. Christopher's.

When J. Christopher's opened in 2017, it replaced Paul's, from chef/owner Paul Albrecht of Pano's & Paul's, which had closed at the end of 2015.  Philippe's Bistro, from Chef Philippe Haddad, was another earlier occupant of the space.

For those unfamiliar, Verde is a casual, family-friendly Tex-Mex eatery focused on a variety of tacos - including fish, beef, chicken, pork, shrimp, steak, veggie, and tofu options - as well as fresh margaritas and assorted salads, bowls, and sides.

The original Verde is an "OG" tenant of Dresden Drive in Brookhaven and opened along the now bustling stretch in 2009.  Subsequent locations were added in Sandy Springs and Underwood Hills, but those locations closed in 2018 and 2020, respectively.  The Sandy Springs location along Roswell Road in Chastain Park is now home to Big B's Fish Joint, while the former Underwood Hills location reopened earlier this year as Pera Bistro, a Mediterranean eatery and hookah joint.

According to a source close to Verde, the company recently signed its lease in Peachtree Hills and hopes to be open in January.

Are you excited about the opening of Verde in Peachtree Hills in Buckhead?  What is your favorite type of taco?  Who in Atlanta do you think offers the most creative taco?

Hope they do a total gut and remodel there. It’s totally filthy inside. A paint job won’t be enough

Wow, I used to work at Fox & Hounds on Collier which later became Verde. I had no idea it went Hookah....LOL But it doesn't surprise me.

I don't think this will be a good fit at this location. Not sure if this location should even have any kind of restaurant in it at all. Tree House is enough for the area.

They need to put in a proper bar (which the Treehouse across the street doesn't really have) and figure out a way to utilize the upstairs deck space. J. Christopher's never utilized that space properly which is one of the many reasons it couldn't make it in that location

I live in Peachtree Hills and am thrilled about this. Another walkable place in the neighborhood that can cater to young families. Really hoping it sticks.

This is perfect for the neighborhood. For a neighborhood with this density and demographics there’s a lack of solid, walkable restaurants currently, especially taco and margarita places.

You worked ITP? For shame.

They might have trouble competing with Jalisco.
