ToNeTo Atlanta has learned that Publix plans to open its latest metro Atlanta store next month in Buckhead. The store, opening in Buckhead Landing (3330 Piedmont Road), replaces the former "Disco Kroger" which closed December 2022 after nearly 50 years in business.
This new Publix will be in addition to the six Buckhead stores the company already operates including: The Peach, Lenox Marketplace, Chastain Square, Peachtree Battle, West Paces, and Howell Mill Village. Chastain Square and Howell Mill Village are, like Buckhead Landing, owned and managed by Regency Centers.
The 54,965 square foot Buckhead Landing store will be the Lakeland, Florida-based grocer's largest store in Buckhead and one of its largest in metro Atlanta. The store is expected to open December 4, according to an employee at the grocer.
Another Publix is coming to Cambridge Square in Brookhaven which also replaces a former Kroger. Whereas when Publix entered the Atlanta market in the early 90s and converted many former A&P stores, the new Buckhead and Brookhaven stores were built from the ground up. The Brookhaven store, which is replacing the older nearby store at Oglethorpe Crossing, is slated to open in "Summer 2025," according to a source familiar with the grocer's plans.
Publix currently operates 216 stores in Georgia.
In Buckhead Landing, Publix will join newly opened tenants including Golf Galaxy, Carter's, Burtons Grill & Bar, and Aviva by Kameel. In the months to come, Smoothie King, Omakase Table, and Handel's Ice Cream are also slated to open in the renovated center.
Are you pleased by the changes at Buckhead Landing? What new or upcoming opening are you most excited about? What other kinds of tenants would you like to see added to Buckhead Landing?

Is Chastain Square Buckhead or Chastain Park? The Arby’s a few hundred feet away was Chastain Park in your recent article about that. Perhaps you should spend more time getting to know the area.
Reading skills are a gift some, like you “Anonymous”, do not possess.
“Anonymous”. Bless your heart. Basic reading skills are a wonderful skill to have. Maybe one day you’ll understand.

I think you’re the one who needs to get to know the area?
When I think of the shopping center now called Buckhead Landing I just think of a very crowded frustrating to deal with shopping center. Work in the area and have been there a lot when Kroger was there. The Publix sounds great but I always think twice before dealing with that shopping center. I'm sad about the Oglethorpe Publix moving because I find the Cambridge shopping center hard to get out of especially if I want to go east during a very busy time of day.
Go get sucked in the tornado with the wicked witch
They've done a great job with that center but, not gonna lie, I'll miss the Jason's Deli. That Texas Chili was 🔥.
I live in Buckhead and there are 2 other stores closer to me (one is exactly one mile from my house) But I will definitely check it out as I've heard from Publix employees that the new store is going to be unlike any other Publix. Plus, I think that it will likely have a few things that are otherwise unavailable in the smaller stores. Even though I wish there was a little more competition in ITP (Ingles, and I wish Harris Teeter would return) I still love Publix.
Are they going to remodel the cramped Chastain square store?
I do not like the fact they got rid of disco Kroger. Publix is just a money loving company and their prices are way too high.
The store is cramped, to be sure. But the parking lot is what is the damn nightmare.
Agreed!!!! How nasty!
Could we get some info on the Publix coming soon to Jasper, GA?
Should be a Lidl
Ahh hopes dey gots shopliffin detectors in that Publix…
And a portable defibrillator for you, you keep having these strokes that make you type all these incoherent words. Unless of course you are mocking someone….which would be racist.
Of the many articles about the Disco Kroger , in many places, noone includes a photo of the disco ball? Many live outside the Metro and have never seen it. Disappointing.
