Slope's BBQ has closed its Alpharetta location. The restaurant, located at 5865 Gateway Drive, just off Peachtree Boulevard, closed as of December 24 after 26 years in business. No reason was provided for the closure.
The Cartersville Slope's on North Tennessee Street closed in 2013, and after sitting vacant for years, has been home to several restaurants, currently Lee's Guest House, a Korean BBQ restaurant. The Cumming location on Canton Highway closed at the end of 2021. The building was demolished and reopened as a Wash Factory Express car wash.
Slope's BBQ in Sandy Springs was located on Johnson Ferry Road near City Springs but closed in 2022 to become McDaniel's QN2. The restaurant still serves a similar menu to that of Slope's and is still owned by Andy & Glenn McDaniel who created their own brand after 20 years as Slope's franchisees.

Sorry to see any BBQ joint close. Only ever ate at the Sandy Springs location a couple of times, and had take out from Roswell. Pig N Chick is my favorite. But when I was working, Turners (OTP) was a regular stop. Never been able to stomach mac and cheese at all.
It was off of Gateway drive and Highway 9. Haven't eaten at the one in Alpharetta in years.
I ate there the last day December 24. After the Cumming location closed I started going to the Alpharetta location. Never had a bad meal at either location. The food and service were always very very good.
There are multiple reasons why they likely closed: Business was slow, the franchise agreement, issues with the building and equipment in the restaurant.
I would not be surprised if the road project on Atlanta Hwy is in part to blame. It has been going on for more than a year and is not near completion. I know of one instance where the water line was cut by the workers and Slopes had to close for a couple of days.
I agree with the comment about the road construction. Highway 9 is miserable right now and I avoid it at all costs. Now that Ronald Reagan goes all the way through, I generally don't have to be anywhere near 9.
It was the best BBQ in Alpharetta, it's not the same in Sandy Springs.
