Barry's, the popular boutique fitness concept, looks to finally be making its highly sought after expansion in Atlanta. Permits recently filed with the City of Atlanta suggest that Barry's is looking to open a new facility at 1105 West Peachtree Street in Midtown.
Barry's Bootcamp, as the company was then known, opened its first studio in West Hollywood in 1998. The company expanded significantly between 2017 and the end of 2019, at which time it also shortened its name to simply "Barry's." Today the company has nearly 100 studios worldwide, including more than 50 across the country with new studios planned for Charleston, SC and Hoboken, NJ, both firsts in their respective states.
Known for their infamous "Red Room," Barry's combines HIIT (High-Intensity Internal Training) with other strength training in a lively and collaborative atmosphere that has made the boutique fitness operator a favorite among many fitness enthusiasts.
The first, and currently only Barry's in Atlanta opened at the corner of East Paces Ferry Road and North Fulton Drive in October 2017 at Buckhead Village District (then known as The Shops Buckhead Atlanta).
Sources close to Barry's suggest that the new studio is to open by early 2026.
In opening at 1105 West Peachtree, Barry's not only joins anchor tenants like Google and the Epicurean Hotel, but also the recently opened Emilio's Tacos & Tequila, a new Mexican eatery from Atlanta-based LEAD Hospitality Group, owners of McCray's Tavern, Hamp & Harry's, and The Mill Kitchen & Bar, among other restaurants.
First announced back in 2021 and originally slated to open in 2022, Atlanta's first location of New York's For Five Coffee is also expected to open at the project, according to the coffee company's website, "in 2025."
Are you excited about the opening of Barry's in Midtown? Are you still unconvinced that For Five Coffee will ever open? What types of tenants or businesses do you feel are lacking in Midtown?
