[ALERT] Houck's Replacement Coastal Has Closed After Just 16 Months in Roswell

Coastal Bar Grill & Chill has announced that it has closed as of January 1 after less than 16 months in business.  The restaurant, located at 10930 Crabapple Road, opened in September 2023 in place of Houck's Grille, which had served the community for more than 35 years before its August 2023 closure.

There was no reason provided for the sudden closure but according to the restaurant website, Coastal will reportedly be open for special events in January.  (Houck's was seemingly forced to close after former manager Scott Spilberg embezzled more than $300,000 from the restaurant putting the business in financial straits.)

"Coastal Grill is open for events in January including private events, music and entertainment.  Touch base with Katelyn Martin to host a corporate meeting, birthday or any January celebration.  We will post our music and other events for January on the website."

When Coastal opened, it aimed to carry on the legacy built by Bill and Judy Houck with a revamped space offering a "Gulf Coast-inspired experience," complete with live music, dueling pianos, and special events.  The restaurant was seemingly unable to accomplish that mission.

Did you ever visit Coastal Grill & Chill? Are you surprised to see Coastal close?  What would you like to see open in place of Coastal in Roswell?

Well darn. We liked Houck’s a lot, Coastal not as much. We did go there twice after the revamp to see a couple of bands. It’s a good space with plenty of parking, unlike places on Canton St.

Canton Street is cherished for its unique charm and character, partly because not every business is surrounded by a sprawling parking lot. But to each his own!

This is truly sad news! One of the FEW places with quality bands AND great dining… Please figure out how to re-open😢

Was Spilberg ever prosecuted? WEHT that case? Is there a possibility Houck's could reopen with the original owners/concept?

What does Spielberg have to do with it? Jurassic Park?
